Another case of, mercy killing, or simply because the man can, no longer, handle the burdens???  Tragedies like this, will keep on, happening, over, over, and over, especially now, as we live longer, the lack of provisions and support from the long-term care programs here, off of the Front Page Sections, translated…

The forty-two-year-old man, Chen took care of his paralyzed from a stroke, sixty-five-year-old mother on his own, suspected of being overwhelmed by the pressures of economics, and the stresses from caretaking, on the nineteenth, he was suspected of smothering is own mother to death with a pillow, told his uncle, “I killed mom”.  As the police arrived, he’d admitted to murdering his own mother, and was charged for murdering of one’s own next-of-kin, taken to the district attorney’s office, and the D.A. asked the courts to have him into custody, which the courts signed off on.

The police investigated, that Chen is an only son of the family, unmarried, lived alone with his own mother, more than two decades ago, Chen’s mother had scoliosis, became immobilized, was registered as a handicap person; Chen had a job originally, plus the worker’s insurance that his mother received, and his father’s retirement pension from the army, it was enough for them to live, the social services didn’t list the family as high-risk, there wasn’t any domestic violence on record either.

Last November, Chen’s mother had a stroke, paralyzed and became bedridden, Chen asked the factory he worked in to take a leave without pay, and started caring for his own mother at home, the household economics became tried then; the man in charge of the local borough had inquired to see if Chen needed the homecare provisions or the long-term care assistance, Chen told him it wasn’t necessary, and refused to disclose further what he was weathering through in his own home.

On the morning of the nineteenth of this month, Chen entered into his mother’s room, smothered her to death with a pillow first, then, rammed his head into the walls, suspected of attempting suicide, causing external injuries to his own head; afterwards, Chen called his uncle what he’d done, and his uncle called the police.

As the police arrived, Chen’s mother was already dead, Chen sat to the side of the bed, out of it, dumbfounded, couldn’t verbalize what had happened, was suspected of being drunk, the officers saw his head injuries, escorted him to the hospital, then, took him to the station to inquire; Chen admitted to murdering his own mother, claimed that he’d taken care of his own mother alone on his own, but refused to tell the police anything more, two days ago, the district attorney’s office got the judge to sign off on his arrest, an autopsy on Chen’s mother was conducted, to determine the cause of death, and Chen’s motives for murder.

And so, this, is still, yet another case of, how the long-term care provisions didn’t work, I mean, this man needed help in caring for his own paralyzed mother, and he didn’t want any help from the outside, and the burdens of caretaking became too enormous, that he finally, CRACKED, and, committed murder, and to think, that all of this could’ve been, easily avoided, had the man, gotten the help he needed, to take care of his own, bedridden, mother, but he didn’t.
