The case of Mr. Floyd still isn’t limited to the U.S., it’s happened here too! Off of the Front Page Sections, translated…
The Taiwanese Version of the Floyd Case, the D.A. Found that the Victim was Cuffed with Hands on Back, and Didn’t Fight His Arrest, and Still Got Pinned Down, Causing Him to Die of Asphyxiation by Police Brutality
the man, Yo after he was drunk, started waving a knife at the police was subdued by the five officers from the Luzu Substation, pinned down at the shoulder by the knees of the officers, pinned down by his limbs, during the time of Yo getting pinned down, he’d started gagging, moaning, his girlfriend who was close by told the police, “you’re using too much force!”, and, ten minutes later, Yo’s face turned purple, and he’d died of asphyxiation, this was like the Taiwanese version of the Floyd case in U.S.; the district attorney’s office reviewed over the video footages taken without the officers knowing, believed that the forces used by the police had been overboard, and the five officers are going to be charged with manslaughter.
Yo’s families wrote a request for justice to the mayor of Taoyuan, Cheng, stated that Yo was the only son of the family, and, accused the officers of using too much brute force, that they’d, killed the only male heir of the family, they’d stated, “our only son died under the officers’ knees”, asked Cheng to give them justice; after the families and the police mediated repeatedly, and couldn’t agree on the settlement amount, and, there’s no consensus reached.
The Luzu substation responded, that the officers, Lu (age 24), Chung (age 28), were called to a local restaurant, that there was a fight, as they arrived, they saw Yo with a saw, attacking and fighting with someone, wreaked of alcohol, as the officers tried breaking up the fight, Yo first swung at the officer, Lu, then, the two officers worked together, to subdue Yo, pinned him down, with their knees on his shoulder.
Because Yo was bigger in built, he’d fought hard, the officers called for backup from Lin (age 29), Hsu (age 26), and Chen (age 26) to help them out, but the five officers knew that Yo was drunk, that in the pinning of Yo, he was moaning and groaning in pain, and started vomiting, the three to five officers still, pinned him down together.
The district attorneys reviewed over the secret camera recordings, found that the officers had subdued Yo with their knees, and cuffed him up with his hands behind his back, that after Yo stopped struggling, they’d continued pinning him down, and the recording showed Yo’s girlfriend close by, stating, “You’re using too much force”, but the officers ignored, stated that Yo is capable of fighting back, not reduced the amount of forces they used.
Until Yo started reducing his volume of moaning and groaning, and ten minutes after the police started pinning him, he’d made no sound, as Hsu saw Yo become unresponsive, he’d, stopped pinning him, but Yo was already in a coma, stopped breathing before he was rushed into the hospital, and, dead after the emergency resuscitation measures were conducted on him.
During the district attorney’s interrogations, the five officers denied the manslaughter charges, claimed that Yo never told them he was not feeling well, that after they’d cuffed him, they’d stopped pinning him down, that nobody had let them know, that they were using too much force, and they’d heard that Yo was fighting hard, that was why the officers “used the weights of their entire bodies”.
Yo’s friend testified, that he’d heard him stated “I can’t breathe,” but the police still pinned him for several minutes, until his face turned purple, then, he’d made, no sound. The coroner’s autopsy found, that the cause of death of Yo was due to getting poisoned by the alcohol he’d consumed, after being pinned down by the police, and asphyxiation.
The district attorney stated, that the operation manual of the police stated, that the officers are allowed to use force to arrest a suspect, but “not to excessive”, as Yo was already moaning and groaning after being pinned down, the officers didn’t care that Yo was already cuffed, and still used enormous pressures in pinning him, that they’re all responsible for manslaughter.
And so, this, is how the police can, use excessive force in an arrest, because this man was drunk (impaired judgment!), and he was threatening the police, and, the police thought they were doing what they needed, to subdue him, and used too much force, and, killed this man, and now, all the officers are looking at, time in prison, for manslaughter, when the charges should’ve been murder!
