Uh, apparently, the “general public” still lacked, COMMON S-E-N-S-E here, uh, and you DO realize, that you’re NOT supposed to keep different species of living organisms together, inside the same enclosures, unless, they have, a symbiotic relationship, meaning that they RELY on each other, right??? This IS, animal CRUELTY!!! Sighting from a local zoo here, off of the Newspapers, translated…
An orangutan “Alfa Macho” in the Hsinchu City Zoo bullied a herd of muntjacs kept in the same enclosures, after he’d grabbed the muntjac by the hindlegs, he’d, shaken it, dragged it, slammed it against the trees, then, continued dragging the muntjac across the pavements several times, as that particular muntjac was able to get away, it’d started, limping around, and, there were more than one victim to this, orangutan’s abuse. As the zoo had been told by the visitors two days ago in the afternoons, the officials immediately called up the veterinarians to treat the injured muntjacs, and locked Alfa Macho into the enclosures, and in the futures, they will stop, keeping the different species in the same enclosures together.

The orangutan that’s made the muntjac suffered was illegally smuggled in, because the original owner bought it off of the side of the road; then, it’d moved into the Ji-Lai Farms of Kaohsiung, then, stayed temporarily at the Taipei and Hsinchu City Zoos awhile. But because it kept switching to and from the residences, it’d become shy in nature, and more closed in, and so, the zoo started taking the experiences of mixed-species keeping from inside the country and outside, to let Alfa Macho mix in with the muntjac herds, hoping to lower the chances of social awkwardness of Alfa Macho. Alfa Macho had been kept with the muntjac herd for close to a year to date, and the two species get along fine, Alfa Macho would share his foods with the muntjac herds. The zoo said, that there is the case of the silverbacks with the muntjacs kept in the same enclosures, and in the zoo in Belgium, there was the case of enriching the behaviors of the species of animals, and helping the animals feel psychologically better, but this time, it was, not the case.
Two days ago, the visitors to the zoo came online, that the first time they’d gone to the Hsinchu City Zoo, they’d found that the orangutan was kept in the same enclosures as a herd of muntjacs, the visitor originally thought that the two species are getting along fine, but the individual witnessed that the orangutan, picking up a muntjac by its back legs, then, shaking it, and dragging it across the pavement, rammed it into the trees, several times, and, the poor muntjac was able to get away when the hand of the orangutan slipped, but clearly, it was, limping.
Yeah uh, where the @#$% is the senses of these zoo officials? I mean, because there are precedence of success of cross-species “mingling”, that still doesn’t mean that what works over there (Wherever THERE may be!) will work here, hello, hello, hello??? A lot of other things need to be considered here, like the physical, mental wellbeing of the animals, and, even IF the muntjacs aren’t a “diet” for these primates, primates are known to play ROUGH with each other, take a look on the videos, go search for it on YouTube, I’m sure, you can find primates, torturing another species of animals, and yeah, sure, there’s, the story of Coco and her kitten, but that doesn’t mean, that what happened in that case, will also, happen in every case we come across.
