The man, Pan from Taoyuan had been arrested twice for drunk driving, two years ago, he was plastered from drinking at the restaurant, drove his truck home, on the way, he slammed into the motorist, Wu, the motorist suffered fractures all over his body, and died on site Pan’s breathalyzer showed 0.93; the Taoyuan District Court found, that two days ago, Pan was just arrested for drunk driving before killing the man, but he was without any awareness, and caused another to die, the courts sentenced him to five years six months for drunk-driving vehicular manslaughter, this can still be appealed.
On September 1st in 2020, Pan was drinking at a restaurant with his friends, he’d not waited until the effects of his own intoxication wore off and drove home, he’d driven against the traffic on his way home, killing the motorist, Wu who was riding down the roads, the man sustained multiple fractures on his body, and died.
After he’d caused the crash, Pan stayed, but, he’d not told the police, that he was the one who’d had an accident, it wasn’t until the police reviewed over the surveillance, did they realize that he was, involved, took him into the station, and the breathalyzer test was administered, and it’d show 0.93mL.
Pan’s attorney stated, that Pan admitted to driving drunk, and killing the man, and had settled with the families of the deceased, asked for the “pity clause” of reduction of punishment based off of Penal Code 59. But the courts believe, that two months before the vehicular manslaughter, Pan had gotten caught a second time for drunk driving, and the second time occurred just two days before he’d killed the motorist, that he’d shown no awareness, and repeatedly offended. The judge pointed out, that Pan, because of his getting behind the wheels drunk, caused the family of Wu the motorist to lose their loved one, that it’s hard for the courts to find any forgiveness, that he’d not qualified for the sentencing reduction.
And so, this, is how this lawyer tried to WEASEL his clients out of being punished very severely, I mean, this is, a REPEATDED offender of drunk-driving, and it was only two days before when this driver was caught behind the wheels, drunk, as he’d slammed into that motorist, killing the man, and, five years six months is still, too lenient, based off of my beliefs, a family lost their loved ones, how much jail sentence can make up for that again? Exactly.
