Then, versus, now, back then, people didn’t have money, but are, willing to, share what they have, with others, and strangers as well, while nowadays, we got, more wealth going around, but, we’d, lost that heart of kindness as a people here, observations, off of the Front Page Sections, translated…
At first, only, occasionally, occurring. The past couple of months, appearing, almost every day at the gazebo of that local park I’d gone to regularly, and he’d, found his, stay there; recently, he’d, kept his head on the tables, sleeping, maybe, he’d, fallen, ill.
In a few short months, I’d, bore witness to the birth of a young homeless person. Of course, not all homeless persons are like so, I’d once bumped into an older man who was rummaging through the trash to find food and the plastic bottles, at the Taipei Main Station. I’d patted him on the shoulders, “I can get a Taiwan Railroad packed lunch for you if you want to?”, he’d turned me down, then asked me if I could just, give him the cash for it, that he’d needed to pay for his national health insurance charges.
The outbreaks of MERS-CoV, causing a lot of people to be unemployed! And they couldn’t even pay for the basic labor and health insurances now, let along, any other charges………………the world got, redesigned into a mall, where everything costs money, unemployment meant, losing the ticket to enter onto the trains of society, and you can only, watch others move on, while you are, on your own, relying on your self, in this, desert.
From before, the world had many kinds of work available to us, the various levels of workers needed, the people of, various, races, etc., etc., etc., and now, the world only wants those who are quick-in-thought, the elites, the enterprises kept on merging, killing off those, smaller enterprises which had the workers’ welfares in mind to get eliminated. A lot of people are living borderline, with a lot of people’s emotions, on the verges, of, breaking down too……those with the responsibilities, are, tried, too hard! Those without the responsibilities, either that they’d, made those around them in pain, or they’d, fallen.
Those who aren’t, excellent enough, are worse off than any of the groups, nobody will show them any sympathy, or empathy, only blamed them for not working hard enough.
Little Light Bulb, the railroad police who got stabbed to death, that dentist who’d, unfortunately, lost, his own life…………there are a lot, who’d, told that the society is ill, with their, lives, that there’s, this, HUGE HOLE in the system! But, does the government realize, that the faster the society progresses, more people will be, eliminated, some became super rich overnight, at the same time, more became, poverty, stricken.
Perhaps, the only ones who’d actually, cared for the wellbeing of ordinary, citizens are, the scam artists, giving those the “faked” cares and concerns.
If the five-times vouchers can be used to pay for the health, the labor insurances, I’m sure, a lot of people are going to use the vouchers for just that, that wall between the citizens and the politicians, too high to get across and over. And, how can Taiwan call itself, a developed nation with the cares over the progressions of human rights? As a child, I’d gone to someone’s house for supper, as the banquet was about to start, came a stranger, with this, huge bowl in his hand. The owner of the house ushered the man in, and gave him a warm, welcome, after the stranger left, I’d asked my father who that was? He’d told me that he was, a beggar.
Back then, I was, deeply, touched by the homeowner’s mercy, and respect for those living close to the poverty lines for a long, long time! And, that was, some, forty odd years ago, so, how come, there’s, no place, no foothold, for those in the society right now?
From the influx of cases of domestic violence, of scams and frauds, and those, random massacres, we can tell, that there are, many of whom are the innocents, who’d become, scapegoats, of the holes in the, society. The plague made the western world think, returned back to the days of everyone willing, to help everybody else out; while Taiwan had made “We can help” into a motto for other countries, but, does the government actually, have we the citizen’s welfare, in mind?
Or maybe, what Taiwan is in desperate need of right now, is that vaccine called, “hope!”
And so, this, is comparing the past, when people are all, not really that well-to-do, of how that time, everybody is normally kind, to everybody else, of how they’re, more than willing to, lend that helping hand to others, but now, with the economies growing, more money to get made and to share, there’s, just this, lacking of a heart now, and, the role of the government in this, is that it’s the one, leading up, down this, bad path!
