The importance of reading along, to your own, young, there are, benefits, not just for them, but for you as well, adults!!! Expert advice here, off of the Front Page Sections, translated…
The expert on reading and writing, Chen published dozens of volumes on language instruction, she’d shared with the reporters on how to help build the children’s reading comprehension, writing skills through read-along, and asking questions:
Every family should set up a “Knee Classroom” to start. For children before school age, the most important thing about reading is not how much is read, but if the parents can spend time to read along to their children, having the children sit on their knees, to read the assortment of stories to their own young.
First, it’s the parents telling the stories, a different story a day, the stories are, never the same, to spark up that imagination in the children. Then, for the parents to tell a sentence to the kids from the story, with the kids, expanding on the tales on their own, to make a story of ones’, own. In the end, allowing the children to make up their own stories, with the parents, being, the audience.
instead of allowing them to do this…
Into the higher grade levels of school, the children will start acquiring their own tastes in reading materials, and at this time, the parents only need to make sure that the reading materials are, age-appropriate. Some parents used the number of words in a book to evaluate if the book is a fitting reader for the children, and ignored the children’s own preferences in reading, and this is not a good choice in helping your young establish that habit, to acquire a love for reading.
For older children, the parents can “play-read” with them, to pass along the techniques of reading, and storytelling to them.
And at this time, the reading materials can have the biographies of the famous people in history, from the fairytales, into the stories of real-life persons, the point here is to go from reading, to writing. For instance, after reading the story of the international chef, Chiang, the children shouldn’t stay on the conclusions of “Wow, he is, amazing!”, but instead, from reading the tale, learn the techniques of writing, to use the words to connect, to describe something.

And, this teaches you, the parents, how to, introduce the process of reading, to your children, from when they were younger, tell them stories, from the illustrated books (you do have those at home on the shelves, don’t you???), then, as they grow older, have them tell you the stories at bedtime, to help them exercise their imaginations, and then, add on from there, reading, just like everything else, is, step-by-step approach, and, kids are, relying too much on the visual inputs, the videos on YouTube these days, and, unless you want the next generations of illiterates to ruin the futures, I would strongly recommend (this is still only, JUST an, advice!) you, start reading to your own kids, and STOP propping that iPad, SmartPhone or whatever high-tech gadgets you can find around your houses in front of your young.
