Abuse and neglect, and death, of animals by the privately owned places, off of the Front Page Sections, translated…
The pony that fell over to the side to the stone piles, was thin to the ribs showing out, with the ulcers on all of its, joints. The only sign that it’s still, alive, is the movements of that labored up and down on its chest; with the other horses, famished, thin, to the bones. And, this was, what the tourists paid to get into the Springtime Farm of Taoyuan saw. The original outing to see nature, they’d, saw the dying animals, instead.
The operators of this park said it’s because of how the outbreaks caused the reduction of the tourists, that nobody was feeding the ponies by hand. But this was, an excuse, the feeds of horses are the hays, how would they come to relying on the breads brought in by the visitors? And, the environment doesn’t fit the lifestyles of the animals either, and it’d clearly shown, how the owners of this place only used these animals as tools to make them money, nothing more.
The photo of this pony dying got the members of the public to write to the mayor of Taoyuan, Cheng to protest. But this was, only, a tip of, an iceberg; there are a ton of other animal exhibitions across Taiwan, that became, the purgatories of, these, animals.
That image of that pony, fallen to its side, panting, dying was surely, shocking; what’s more unimaginable was, the lying, the lacking in action of this park’s management. Turned out, Animal Protections knew of the “suspicions of abuse” back at the start of August, but, didn’t enforce the rescue measures; and days later, they’d claimed, “the pony is up and happy, with appetite”. When the reality was: another pony had died, and the park buried it on its grounds. And the pony that fell over was sent to a nearby school to be take care of.
The animal protection law that was amended earlier this year set neglect in caretaking as a form of abuse, with a two year prison sentence. And, the Springtime Farm’s showing the animals like it did, was illegal, because the farm didn’t have any permits. The Department of Agriculture should get to checking to see how many MORE of these places that are cruel toward animals on the island.

I want to inquire to the mayor, Cheng, how is that pony that the Animal Protections took out of the farm? The mayor already shared his visions, but, under his jurisdiction, the illegal animal farms’ creatures are with broken and exposed bones, drinking the water with mosses, and the city government can’t even take care of, how can the mayor fight for the office of mayor, to care for its, people, when he can’t even, take care of the lower orders of, living organisms?
Because, they’re, animals, lower than us, not intelligent enough, or at least, that’s, what we, humans, like to, believe, that’s why, these sorts of abuse and neglect keeps on, happening, and what’s worse is how the manager of this, illegal petting zoo made the excuse of how the animals are fed by the tourists, and now, the tourists are all ducking out from the outbreaks of MERS-CoV, that’s why the animals are, starving, and, all the workers in this animal hell should get put into cages, and be starved, see how they feel!
