A crime of, opportunity here, I’m afraid, attempted murder charges, of, a customer who’d, kicked the back of his seat in his cab, off of the Front Page Sections, translated…
The fifty-one year-old cabdriver, Lee on April 4th this year, drove the 47-year-old man, Liao to his place, on the way he was suspected of feeling displeased at how Liao went on a rant after he was drunk, he’d dragged Liao out of his car, picked up a screw driver, and stabbed Liao in the neck a dozen times, then, left Liao by the side of the road, then, drove off, the pedestrians found Liao, the police took Lee in on assault charges. The Taipei District Attorney’s Office called Lee into questioning, Lee claimed that Liao started kicking the back of his seat, he’d wanted to teach him a lesson, that’s why he’d, beaten him. The D.A.’s office used the fact that Lee had priors in murder, that he was cruel in murdering, charged him with attempted murder, and asked the courts to have him in custody, which the courts signed off on.
Based off of understanding, the cabdriver, Lee in 2006 committed a murder, which got him fourteen years, he was out on parole by 2019. On April 4th at around two in the morn, Liao flagged down Lee’s cab at a seafood shop in Hsintien to get home, the waiter helped him call the cab, the taxi hub sent over Lee who’s close in the neighborhood to pick Liao up.
Not long thereafter, the police received the call, that someone with a face full of blood was found lying on the streets, and the ambulance rushed over, and lifted Liao to Tzu-Chi Hospital in Hsintien, through reviewing the surveillance on the streets, the injured, Liao was caught on tape, having an argument with Lee on site, it showed, that Liao was stabbed by Lee using a screw driver and fell to the ground; the police charged Lee on assault.
The D.A.’s Office called Lee in yesterday, Lee claimed that Liao got crazy and started making the rants after he’d picked him up, and kept kicking the back of his seat, in a moment of anger, he’d, dragged Liao off, and, stabbed Liao to injury; the district attorney then inquired why Lee had the screw driver? Lee claimed that it was to “fix my car”.
The police based off of Lee’s statements, and reviewed over the street surveillance footages, only saw Liao being helped onto the cab by his friend, that he’d not gone on rants from drinking, and the police also went to the hospital to ask Liao what happened on the night, he’d claimed that he was plastered on the night, and as he woke, he found himself on a hospital bed, and couldn’t recall what had happened to him, not known he’d been stabbed to injury either.
The district attorneys found that Lee was charged with attempted murder from before, that he’d not turned his life around, carried that screwdriver with him, and has a high chance of offending again, and the victim had lost a lot of blood, with neck and head severely injured, that the victim of his attack runs a high chance of becoming paralyzed, that there’s, the intent in Lee’s actions, decided to take him into custody.
And so, because this man has a prior, and, he’d, used such brutal methods of attacking his victim, that’s why the district attorney’s office felt that it wasn’t safe, for him, to be out on bail, that’s why, they took him into custody.
