The refrigerators are mainly used for keeping the foods fresh, in the freezers, the ice products, and the items that needed to be kept a long time, while the refrigerated sections are more those produces, or foods that are fitted for the lower temperatures to stay fresh, that is, what most people believed, not placing what’s not fitting in there, to affect what’s in there.

While my wife had, treated the refrigerator as, a storage unit, other than the seafoods, the meats, the vegetables, the eggs, the condiments, etc., etc., etc., the longan, the red dates, goji, along with other sorts of Chinese traditional medicines, along with the antacid tablets, vitamins, moisturizing creams, she’d added, an assortment of things in there.
To upkeep the functions of our fridge, I’d always, clean it out from time to time, ridding the almost expired items, the foods and other things that are past expiration, tossing them all away, and tried to finish up items that are, about to, expire, and I got to, put our fridge on that, weight-loss program, to add to the internal, storage space. It’d felt bad, throwing some of the items out, but, for the sakes of our own health, to not turn our stomachs into trash bins, I can only, held in the pains, and, rid the things.
Once I’d gone home with my wife to visit, I’d, helped cleared off the fridge as I normally would, and I’d found a pack of fish balls that had been, five years past expiration, I’d thought, that if my families ingested them, they will totally get bad in their stomachs, so without a second thought, I’d, put them aside, and, gave it to the cleaning crews to recycle.
After my carefully, and thoroughly cleaning the fridge, it’d become, clean, and more spacious, just as I wanted to, gloat to my wife about it, my wife found that pack of fish balls, in the trash, and I watched her face change colors, and she’d, pulled the pack out. Turned out, that was, what her elders taught her, and, I discovered, several gold rings stuffed inside the fish balls, as the fish balls were still soft, she’d stuffed the gold rings in, and shoved the bag of fish balls into the freezers, and it won’t show from the outside, normal people wouldn’t give it a second look, it’s simple, and not apparent, with the goals of, protecting the gold from the burglars.

With the loss of the gold jewelries reclaimed, I was, so surprised, and that, was when I knew, that the freezers aren’t just used to keep the foods, but it also, served the functions of a safe too, I’d, added some, knowledge now. It’s just, that as this secret gets, printed on the papers, would it, be attention getting, to the burglars?
And so, this, is how the older generations of people do it, they HIDE their things, in the, oddest places, some of which, we the younger generations could’ve, never imagined, and, had this man thrown out that bag of expired, fish balls, he would’ve, gotten in so much troubles with his own wife, but gladly, he didn’t!
