The death rates surpassed the birth rates in 2010, the population started, becoming, reduced. Based off of the World Population Review, along with the global information net of CIA of U.S., Taiwan has the lowest birth rate of all the world’s surveyed 227 countries, with the total birthrate of only 0.9 (every woman has one birth!). This low rate of birth had occurred for a long time, in 2003, the total birth lowered to 1.3, far below the population replacement of 2.1, lower than Japan right now.
Why aren’t women having children? The primary reason being, less women are marrying. Taiwan is an Asian society, and, births primarily occurred under the institution of marriage; and, since 2007, the rate of women who are with a partner or married dropped sharply, same trend occurred for males too. By 2020, there were only 121,702 couples who registered for marriage, an all-time low for the decade, while the divorce rates hiked up to 51,680 couples, a pair of married couple getting divorced for every 2.4 pairs of couples that are married.
Because of the knowledge of births became common, the views that the younger generations of men and women held of marriage and births will affect how the population will develop in the future. Unfortunately, there was, the lacking in the measures of research on the subject. My social investigation unit at the end of March conducted a random survey of phone interviews of men and women between twenty and thirty-nine years of age on their beliefs of children and marriage, with a standard deviation of 3.0-percent, the reliance of ninety-five-percent, and it showed about the same results of the males surveyed. Of the interviewed, 77.6-percent are with children, 22.4-percent are without; 53.1-percent with one child, 24.4-percent with two, 87.2-percent with one child, and don’t want another, 72.2-percent of married women with no desires of reproducing.
Those who aren’t wed, but with the willingness of getting married, men took up 71.4-percent, higher than women’s 69.1-percent, with the age group of ages 35 to 39 dropping to 53.9-percent. And it showed, that close to sixty-percent of women surveyed that are still single, and without desires of reproduction even after they get married in the futures.
The surveys showed, most of the married women with already one child has NO desire of having another. While most of the unwed samples wanted to marry, they’d refused to have children, especially for unmarried women, and the primary reason being how males don’t have houses, that they don’t make enough money. And, in the lowered wages, the too-high housing prices, the unmarried, no children trend will worsen with time.

In the past decades, women are getting higher in their education, and working more, same for their social statuses, but because of the stereotypes of gender roles, the males carrying the household on their backs had become, etched too deep. Women not getting married, it’s for the sake of freedom, but, without the houses, unable to raise a family, the males not marrying, that, would be, the real reason of marriage rates being lowered, the birthrates lowering.
And so, to sum up: there’s NO purpose in us, men and women to get married, because??? Why bother, this world is already, populated enough, with the population growing older by the nanosecond, and, think on it, if one kid gets born, s/he will be responsible, for caring for not just her/his parents, but ones own, grandparents, so that’s what? 1 “kid”, taking care of, SIX older adults, and that’s just not, economically, “smart”, and besides, we women had, drifted too FUCKING (so???) far from the beliefs of we got nothing to do, but to, CRANK out them babies, like those, baby machines here, and we women of modern day world are all, a hell of a lot more capable, than our, foremothers, and so, yeah, with us women, getting more independent, economically, psychologically, and otherwise, we don’t need you, that’s why, a lot of us are choosing NOT to be married, because that, is just how we go…
