A MURDER, of the young infant, by his, three-year-old, older brother! And this could’ve been, easily, prevented, had the adults been, paying, MORE attention, but they weren’t, the tragic death of, yet another, unregistered, young infant here, from a, runaway migrant worker, off of the Front Page Sections, translated…
The thirty-six-year-old runaway migrant worker from Indonesia, “Duti” gave birth at a hospital last month, the immigrations offices allowed her to be in protective custody while she’s in her month-long recovery after birth, to care for her young infant son, along with getting her paperwork to be sent back to her home country; but, early yesterday morning, the young infant died of asphyxia at home, rushed to the hospital, and died, Duti told, that it was the infant’s three-year-old older brother who’d, smothered the infant with a pillow, the district attorney’s office will be conducting an autopsy to clarify the cause of death, to see if the female migrant worker was responsible or not.
“Duti” had run away from three, four years ago, worked as an illegal, the two children are both, “unregistered children”, the social services in Taichung emergently placed her three-year-old son yesterday, and, complied with the orders of the Department of Immigrations, and ready for the extradition of the young child.
The police and D.A. found, that the woman many years ago entered to Taiwan as a legal nurse, but she went missing, and her employer reported her as a runaway; at the end of last month, she’d given birth to a male infant at a hospital, with unknown father, plus she was a foreigner, the hospital notified the local immigrations office, and the offices of immigrations found that she was a runaway worker. The specialist team considered her situation humanely, allowed her to not be in their custody, so she could care for her own infant son, to recover from her birth, and filing for the papers for her to be, extradited out.

Based off of understanding, the woman during her time of running away, moved in with a fellow migrant worker from her home country, gave birth to two sons; during the time of her being in custody, she’d stayed with her two sons in an add-on roof suite of an apartment building in Taichung, about 13.22 square meters in area, she was looking after a fellow migrant worker’s three-months old infant son. Because of her bad economics, she’d owed months’ worth of rents, but the landlord was considerate of her conditions, and didn’t press her to pay the rents soon.
The woman told the police, that yesterday at around six when she woke in the morn, she’d found that her younger son’s head was under the pillow of her older son, that he’d stopped breathing, she couldn’t speak fluent Chinese, so she could only text her landlord for help, and the landlord notified the police, the emergency personnel for her.
The fire department told, that as they received the call, they’d immediately found a translator, and, gave the woman instructions of CPR on the infant, and they’d sent the paramedics over immediately, but by the time the emergency personnel arrived, the infant lost all his vital signs, and died before they were able to get him to the hospital.
There are no physical injuries on the infant’s body, no signs of breaking and entering in the suite, yesterday, when the district attorneys examined the body, they still couldn’t determine the cause of death, they’re scheduling an autopsy today.
Based off of the statistics by the Offices of Internal Affairs, up to last June, there were a total of 50,000 unaccounted-for migrant workers, of them, were the female migrant workers who got pregnant, and ran away, there were about 900 women who’d given birth to the unregistered infants, but the social welfare groups believed, that the real number is a lot higher, that this extended into the problems of the future in medical care provisions, and schooling, that the government should pay more attention to this matter.
And so, this, is how this young “nonexistent” (b/c he wasn’t registered?) baby boy died, due to the carelessness of adults, and, nobody knows what his three-year-old older brother was up to, when he’d, smothered the infant with the pillows, but this three-year-old kid isn’t going to get charged with murder, because a kid that young, doesn’t know any better, but the neglect would be on the adults that’s for sure!
