Life, the Obstacle Course

The Means of Distant-Education, from Emergency to Becoming the Norm

On online learning and teaching, becoming the new norm, with the MERS-CoV still, active here, the country lacked the provisions, because this is a very new way of teaching, unlike how distance-education means had already been started long ago in western nations such as the United States, it’s still trial by error here for the instructors, off of the Front Page Sections, translated…

With the sudden spiking up of cases of MERS-CoV contractions, it’s official, that the distant-education means of the middle and elementary schools finally started.  With the shrilling cries from all over the places, most of the teachers’ in the schools were honed up on their skills of using the high-tech devices, compared to the decades worth of technical training that the instructors are getting in the past, this worked, way faster, although some of the instructors still dodged it, but, with the epidemic still spreading around, distance-education and distance-learning is, inevitable.

From before when it was only thought to be, temporary, to changing the facets of teaching, four things became ever more the important:

First, necessity of classroom management skills: a lot of middle and elementary schools told, that roll calls are very difficult in the sessions, and it’s hard to get with the students’ progresses in learning, to the point of the teachers, not knowing if the students are showing up for the learning sessions.  This, is partially from the deficits of the families in hardware or software provisions, this isn’t only what’s going on in the distant-regions, not resolved with the classroom management skills either, but, ruling out all of these non-learning issues, for the instructors to effectively understand the students’ progresses in learning, there would be the strict reliance on the software available for teaching, and the methods of conducting the roll calls of the classrooms.

Secondly, the courses needed to be planned well, I was able to switch from the physical classroom to online with no troubles, and there’s not the difficulties of adaptations, of adjusting, not the “imagined differences of the principles being applied”, the key is in choosing the right kinds of software for the teaching platforms.  First, the instructors need to understand their needs of teaching, along with how complex the teaching materials are, then, select the proper kinds of platforms for teaching online, this will make the flow of things go more smoothly.

Third, have different kinds of assessment means available, in order to ensure the quality of learning online, the instructors need to evaluate the learning processes; to prevent the students from being dishonest, there would be need for a multivariate means of evaluation; to prevent the students and instructors from the burnouts of teaching and learning online, there would also be needs for means of offline evaluation and assessments.  If there’s only the webcam capabilities for the teaching platforms online, it wouldn’t help the instructors one bit, at this time, selecting a complete teaching platform with the classroom management means, teaching the lessons, as well as the assessments of what’s learned by the students is, the key.

And the writer goes on about how the programs of teaching needed to be personalized to fit the teaching needs of the school teachers, how there is a need for an interactive platform where the students can come together, to learn with the teacher who’s teaching from her/his side of the screens, and this still just showed how this country still, lagged, WAY, WAY, WAY behind, in not just the lacking of vaccines, but also, on the hardware of distant-learning provisions, because the country was, ill-prepared for the outbreaks to hit that hard, and now, it’s trying to catch up, but it’d, started off late, and it’ll, NEVER get caught up, due to the lacking in foresight of the government that was, “elected” by “we, the people”!
