Backpack with the lights, to help this kid get home safe in the evenings as he got off his cram school sessions, very creative indeed! Translated…
That day, I was, subbing for my coworker who’d on maternity leave, the class of young first-year middle school students who’d just, begun in their first years of middle school. They had the extension of that passion, that activeness of the elementary years, the moment they’d set foot into the class, one of the young boys called out, “Teacher, look!”, then, he’d, pointed to his glowing backpack, like it was, a float with the lights. I couldn’t help but exclaimed, “wow, it’s, so cool! Your backpack looks so much like a float, you are, amazing!”, as the class heard the word “float”, everybody burst out laughing, and this kid continued, “I’d made this myself! Because I have cram school sessions until late in the nights, that way, I won’t get, run over by the cars!”, then, I’d, let out a series of, exclaim, and in the end, the child told me, “teacher, I liked how you reacted to my stuff, unlike Mrs. XX, she’d seen it, and told me she was going to tell my homeroom!”
something like this, is what this middle school aged boy made…
After class, this kid came to me with her backpack, excitedly told me how he’d found the materials, to make his glowing backpack, and showed me how the colors of the lights can be, altered with the remote control, and he became, animated in describing it to me.
I’d asked him if I could, take some shots, the boy said openly, “Sure, teacher, take as many shots as you want to, if you want one, I shall, make you one too!”, I’d listened and laughed, witnessing the kid’s being affirmed, that show of ingenuity, and bliss.
On my way to the office, I’d thought, if every instructor can have that eye of awe toward these, precious, creativity from their students, then, maybe, those kids who were constantly, labeled as “naughty”, will have the chance of becoming someone influential in their, futures to come.
And so, this, is how the teacher reacted differently, and maybe, because the writer is a substitute, that was why she was very open to see how creative this student is, and encouraged him, unlike how his other teacher grilled him for being, different, for standing out from the rest.
