The Yong-An Elementary School’s instructor, Huang insisted on the values of the classroom being a “place of living aesthetically”, wanted to make the students more comfortable in the classrooms, in his twenty years of teaching, he’d continued turning his thoughts into action, not only did he set up the creative wall on the outside of his classroom, he’d also, worked alongside IKEA, to set up an aesthetic classroom, and this passion helped him receive the SUPER teacher’s award of Hsinbei City.

Having an aesthetic space of living, this had been, what the people in this country lacked.  Huang said, the classrooms are where the students spent most of their times in, that learning IS, living, that they should be enjoying the process of learning in the classrooms, to make the students feel they’re “at home” in the classrooms, and the designs of the classrooms shouldn’t tailor to comfort, that the influences the classrooms exerts, are bigger than he’d ever, expected.  The thoughtful classrooms, not only made the students feel more connected with the classrooms, the parents will also feel how much the instructors are putting in to teaching in the classroom, and it can help the class feel more cohesive.

In his close to twenty years of teaching career, the goals of classroom for Huang had always been setting up a space that’s comfortable, that allows the students to put their creativity to work.  Entering into his class, you see a black loveseat by the bookshelves, a chair for dozing off at the corner, the air spritzer next to the desk, also, the green potted plants everywhere, with the students excitedly chiming on, “I loved to read on the couch”, “I love playing chess on the floor!”

The Old Classroom Walls with Holes, Making it into a Cave-Like Mysterious Space

Huang had taught at the Dayuan Elementary School in Taoyuan, and because the school was a hundred years old, the walls had cracks, and spots, he’d gotten creative, crumpled up the book covers up, wrapped them outside the external walls, creating that cave feel, it’d, made the students and parents awed.  As he’d begun teaching at Chong-Der Elementary School in Shijr, to help the students have newer desks and chairs, with brighter colors, and rearrangeable space, he’d, written a plan, and got approved, and, with IKEA, he’d built a classroom of colors, of aesthetic.

Three years ago, Huang started teaching at Yong-An Elementary School, this school is newer, and with better equipment than the schools he’d taught at, although he’d no longer needed to cover up the worn out walls of the classrooms, nor needed external resources to better the space of learning, but, he’d, continued his ideology of classroom setting in his educating his students here.

And so, this teacher is, working, to help introduce his students to gain that sense of aesthetic that is talked about a lot here these days, and, he saw a need, and, got innovative with his methods, and, turned the classrooms he’d taught in, into, these beautiful space, where his students enjoying learning in, which will, help the students, learn even better.
