The Seventy-Year-Old Male a Repeated Offender, Causing Widespread Fears in Female Passengers, the Police Reminded that Women Should Keep Their Guards Up Riding Up & Down the Elevator and Getting on & Off the MRT Trains
The Taipei MRT system carried over 2.2 million transporters per day, but there are often, incidents of, sexual harassment, or peeping toms taking photos, the MRT police of the Taipei City Police estimated, that in recent five years, the cases of obstruction of privacies, and sexual harassments occurred most frequently at Zhongxiao-Fuxing Station and Taipei Main Station, and Zhongxiao-Hsinshen Station, and, overall, the incidents are more prevalent on the Bannan Line than the Xinyi-Danshui line, the police analyzed the data, and already set up sixteen focus stations to prevent these crimes.
An elderly man in his seventies, in the past twelve years, had already committed TWELVE cases of sexual harassment on the Taipei MRT systems, causing the female passengers to get in panic mode, the cases went bust just last year. The MRT police estimated, that from April of 2017 to April of this yar, there’d been a total of 155 reported cases of sexual harassment, 83 happened in the trains thirty on the elevators, sixteen on the platforms, fifteen in the lobbies, the ramps, eleven; a total of 126 cases of obstruction of secret, sixty-nine on the escalators, the entrances and exits, seventeen, in the lobbies, fifteen, thirteen on the platforms, and twelve in the trains.
Of them, there were seventeen sexual harassment cases in the Zhongxiao-Fuxing Stations, eight obstruction of secret; twelve sexual harassments in Taipei Main Station MRT, nine of obstruction of secret; at Zhongxiao-Hsinshen, fifteen sexual harassment reported, all three were, the most populated stations.
The MRT police analyzed, that there’s a positive correlation of sexual harassment cases with the number of transporters, and so, there’s a higher frequency of the Bannan Line versus the Xinyi-Danshui Line, Zhongxiao-Fuxing had the most passengers, and the suspects mostly used the opportunity of the crowds, patted the victims’ arms, buttocks, and breasts.
The cases of obstruction of secrets happened most prevalent on the escalators, most were spur-of-the-moment crimes, using the angle of the escalator, using the cell phones, to take photos of women’s underskirt, while these stations had multiple exits, which made it even harder for the MRT police to patrol.
The MRT police stated, that they’d already, reviewed over the massive data collected, set up sixteen focal point stations, along with the patrols on the trains, and set up a database of repeated offenders, set up the reviewing of the footages of the surveillance in the trains at the stations, to prevent these cases of secretly filming and sexual harassment.

After the case of the elderly man sexually harassing a female passenger, the city council’s transportation board discuss the cases of “preventing the sexual harassment repeated offenders from taking the public transportation systems”, demanded that the Taipei MRT company and the government, ban the transportation of repeated sexual harassers.
But because the currently law does NOT prevent the mobilities of sex offenders, and the histories of crimes is a matter of privacy, there’s no way of letting the stations know, no laws to prohibit, and so, the act didn’t get passed.
The MRT police reminded the members of the public, to stay alert when riding on the MRT, going up and down the escalators, to always keep the personal belongings intact, to prevent someone from getting too close, if you feel offended, immediately make it known, press down the emergency contact button by the doors of the MRT trains to report the matter to the station attendants.
And so, because these locations are, more populated, that’s why it makes it easier, for these, sexual harassers to become, overly, active, and, even IF a law is set up, I’m sure, that it won’t do a thing, because you have to catch these LOSERS, in the act, of going under someone’s blouse or skirts, and that would be, really hard, to catch, so…
