Took the Retired School Instructor Two and a Half Years to Complete the Puzzles, Advocating Reading, Donated 45,000 Books to Kinmen

Helping to push the reading programs forward for young children, is what this couple is, doing, off of the Newspapers, translated…

The retired elementary school teacher, Lee and his wife, Lin, were into advocating the literacy program in young children’s lives, from October of 2018, they’d started the used book donation programs for the various elementary schools in Kinmen, in recent days, they’d, donated, close to 10,000 volumes to the elementary in Kinmen with the most students, the Zhongzhen Elementary School, in the two and a half years since they started up this program, they’d donated over 45,000 books to the schools in Kinmen to date, Lee told, that the final piece of the puzzle for Kinmen had been put down, his next goal is the county of Lienjiang.

During Lee’s time as a school instructor, he’d enjoyed setting up the classroom libraries for his students.  He said, children who don’t have the habits to rad, rather than asking him to spend time in the school libraries, it’d be better, filling up the bookshelves in the classrooms, so they can have easier access, when the students are too bored, they will, pick up the books eventually to read.

For over twenty years, from the 200 volumes he’d prepared himself, in the parents’ generous donations, Lee managed to collect more than 6,000 volumes of books.  Nine years ago, he’d retired, and decided to find new homes for these books, and started working with the educational radio shows, sent the books to the distant regions, so the classroom libraries are found in as many classrooms as possible.

Lee started donating the books back in 2018, but because of too many classes in Zhongzhen Elementary School, he’d only finished, the last piece of this particular puzzle.  As the school teachers and the students received these boxes of donated books, they were all ecstatic, helped opened up the boxes, and started, moving them onto the bookshelves in their classrooms.

In these past two-and-a-half years, Lee worked hard, to set up the classroom libraries for every classroom in the elementary schools across Kinmen, from the first to the sixth grade levels, based off of the reading abilities, there were about a total of 200 books provided per class, so every class can have its own reading library.

“I’d, placed that final piece of the puzzle down in Kinmen!”  Lee disclosed, that his goals are to head to Lienjiang, in fill up the classrooms with their own libraries in a year and a half’s time, he’d planned to donate 10,000 volumes to the county of Lienjiang, and he’d, gotten about 5,000 donated from the community around already.

And this, is what this retired instructor is working, to help with the literacy program locally, he’d, placed the books in his own class, to help his students learn to love reading, and it worked, because they’re, exposed to so many books, and, eventually, when kids are bored, they would, start, taking up those books and, flipping through them, and that’s how the love of reading gets, instilled in the children in the schooling years, and this instructor started up this wonderful program, to help children acquire the love of reading, which is too important in life.
