An Earthquake, Attacking...

Mommy’s stumped here, now, why don’t you, be a “good boy”, and just, GO to SLEEP already!!!  A mother, getting “trapped” by the conversation on earthquakes her son started with her, before bedtime, translated…

As I put my son down to sleep tonight, he’d leaned in towards me, told me lightly, “mommy, I’m so afraid of the earthquakes”

At age three, he seemed to not grasp the concept of what earthquakes are yet, and because his preschool set the classes up for the safety drills, he’d told of how he’d hidden underneath the desks at school, and I can only consoled with him, that there’s not an earthquake right now, that he needed not to fear it.

He’d blinked, and asked, “Mommy, when will there be an earthquake?”

Er……………I’d thought on this a long, long while, replied, “Well, nobody knows for sure, when there will be, one.”

And, it’d, opened up a series of questions in him, “Will my bedroom have an earthquake?”  “Will the car have earthquake?”  “will our home have earthquake?”, “will Nantou have earthquake?”

I’d replied, “Yes, if an earthquake hits, EVERYBODY will, feel it!”

His “extension of questions” kept on hitting me, and he’d inquired, “mommy, can daddy fix an earthquake?  And if daddy can’t, can you ask uncle fixer-upper to do it?”

Such a turn of thoughts he had, my brain started feeling chaotic then, and I had to use the remaining of my neurons to answ3er him, “daddy can’t fix it, neither can uncle fixer-upper, earthquakes can’t be, controlled!”  “Yeah it can!  Just tell them to use the screws to screw it back up!”

Holy!  This “earthquake” had, HIT too hard, that I can’t, handle it anymore, come, someone, help get me out of this!

And so, this, showed how inquisitive the nature of children CAN be, this mother at the beginning only wanted to TRY and soothe her young son, from his fears of an earthquake “attacking”, and yet, this little one started branching out, with an assortment of, imaginative questions that he drew from the bedtime conversation he was having with his, mommy.  This still just showed, how these tiny moments before bedtime can, help us, brain storm, come up with the most creative thoughts, with a young child involved here, of course.
