The Freshmen Could Choose NOT to Do it, the Older Schoolmates Never Forced Them to
Five years ago, in the freshmen orientation of Jingwen Technical University had a freshmen orientation, the six members of the student committee, the three female older schoolmembers who are juniors forced the freshmen to strip their clothes off, lick the foreheads, and the sauces off of the foreheads of others, they were charged with forced acts, the first trial took all of the involved older schoolmates into police custody; the sponsor of the event, the counselors of the activities, students Chen and Chang are now appealing, the Highest Courts in Taiwan found both not guilty yesterday, case settled.
The High Courts believed, that Chen and Chang had used sexually illicit words, along with other improper measures, to get the freshmen to get involved in the activities, and used a system of rewards to up the participation rates; but the freshmen in college aren’t the same as young children, they HAD the choices of not participating, to not follow the orders to give up their, underwear.
And, even though the freshmen were under “peer pressures”, but the two didn’t force harm, or threaten anybody else’s lives, freedom, reputation on the bodies of the freshmen, the heads of the activities, clearly needed to be reeducated on the issues of gender equality, but it didn’t mean that they were involved in forced behaviors.
In October of 2016, the Marketing, Logistic Management, Environment & Property Management, Applied Foreign Languages and Electronic Engineering majors hosted its freshmen activities, and the juniors from the departments acted as the individuals who were responsible in overseeing the activities, in hosting of the activities; Wu was the recruit, Chen was the assistant recruit, Chang was the camp counselor, the game host, Kao as the one who oversaw the activities in running smoothly.
The element of sex was added in to the freshmen activities, the games demanded that the freshmen provided enough pairs of male boxers, female bras, and if the freshmen refused, then the older school members called them too “chicken”, “we just need your clothes”, “we’d always done this!”; and, in the other group activities, they’d used the excuse of punishing the losers, spread the bean pastes onto the foreheads of the freshmen, and had other freshmen lick it off.
The first trial believed, that the planning of the activities had the sexual overtones to them, there were SIX accomplices confirmed, but because of how none had priors, and they were all sentenced to prison time of twenty to forty days, of them, Wu and Kao admitted to what they did being wrong, they were put on probation for two years. Chen and Chang were displeased, and appealed, the other four who were involved, weren’t, prosecuted.
The technical university stated that they honor the rulings from the court, and set up the rules of the activities of needing to be reviewed over repeatedly, to ensure that this never happens again; that before the activities from here on out, the students will undergo that gender equality seminar, and the activities will have a professor, or a counselor to oversee.
And so, hazing became, a part, of the university culture, and if you weren’t hazed as a freshman, then, you’re, NOT one of us, that, is what these activities are, teaching to the younger generations of freshmen in college, and, because of their status quo (first years???), you got NO choice, but to, COMPLY, and by complying, you’d, allowed PEER pressures to, rule your lives!
