Children Who Start Using High-Tech Gadgets Found to Have Developmental Delays of the Brain

From the neurology department, the lecturing professor of neurology here in Taiwan, off of the Front Page Sections, translated…

There is an elementary school near my home, as school was about to be out, there would be, a lot of parents who’d, waited by the gates to pick up their young, and of them, there were mothers, with the baby strollers, picking up the older children with the younger kids.  One day, as I passed by there, I’d found that of the five strollers, four of the babies inside were playing on the cell phones, I was totally, shocked; they looked, not yet two, it shouldn’t be, they were, way too young!  And, just so happened, an pediatrician wrote me on that particular day, he’d consoled with the parents, to NOT allow their young children come into contact with the high-tech devices, but the parents always said that they’d, controlled the times of usage for their young, that it wouldn’t hurt their children’s eye sights.  He’d asked me: are there any, empirical research results to convince the parents that children getting exposed to high-tech devices too young can be harmful?

Yes there are, and because this problem exists across the global community, there are, a ton of research on this matter.  Actually, the biggest harm isn’t the children’s eyesight (at least, there are glasses to correct!), but the possibilities of ADHD.  For kids with ADHD, school is torture, and, when they don’t make good enough grades, they would get bullied, cast out by their classmates.  And this not only impact the children’s sense of pride, self-confidence, it also greatly increases the chances of dropping out of school too, causing the child to go down a totally different path of life.  So, giving the kids the high-tech gadgets to play on, it’s not only, poisonous, you may have quieted them down for now, but, the cost of the effects of early exposures are, too high to pay in the futures.

There is a multitude of evidence that showed how the high-tech gadgets damage the developments of the brain, as early as 2004, the Children’s Hospital of Washington University in Seattle, Dr. Christakis found, that as ten-months-old infants get an hour extra in front of the television, it’d increased the children’s chances of being diagnosed with ADHD at age seven by ten-percent.  Recently, the MRT studies showed direct effects of children watching T.V. as children watched T.V.

and, here’s, that VISUAL!

An experiment had four-to-six year-old children, splitting them up into two groups: the screens group-with the instructor, reading the illustrated books from a screen to them; the story group had the teacher, reading the book to the children (asking the kids for understanding of the story).  Before the two groups started, the experimenters made sure they’re, exactly the same in levels of focus, language development, and cognition too.  The experiment lasted six weeks, eighteen times, each session is thirty-minutes.  After six weeks, the children were taken into the laboratory to measure their brainwave at resting.

From the studies conducted before, the scholars already knew, that as we entered into sleep, there would be four-to-eight hertz’s ∂ wave that appear, watching T.V, the ∂ wave would increase (which is why we are prone to fall asleep watching T.V.).  For children with ADHD, their ∂wave would be more frequently occurring, while the ß waves (13 to 30 Hz) are reduced, the ratio of ∂/ ß is greater than the adults’.  This experiment found, that the screen group’s brain wave is similar to children ages eight to sixteen diagnosed with ADHD, but the ages of this group of children is, even younger, although the screen group is focused on the visual (the illustration in the books), and auditory stimuli, but in the brains, this level of concentration can’t compared to when the teachers tell the stories, how focused they are, because the “reactive” staring didn’t have enough circuitry movement compared to reading, not interacting with human beings, is harmful to the attention span.

When we talk to others, we make eye contact and gestures, and it would strengthen the system of alertness in the brains, causing an increased production of adrenaline, which helps us learn better.  Actually, more than twenty years ago, psychologists already found, that social interaction is absolutely necessary in learning, that relying solely on the television isn’t enough, learning needs to involve interaction with real human beings (the instructors doing the long-distance interactive teaching will feel it, we are using the exact same materials, but the amount of what the students learned, is different!)

The childhoods of children are about, ten years, don’t hand your young to nannies or machines to raise, the love of parents to children, and children toward parents, that’s, the most, precious, do take advantage of that.

This is still, BASIC common knowledge, which ONE of you out there don’t know that spending time with your young is important, but hey, there’s money that needs to get made, school tuitions, bills that we can’t pay, and mortgage, car loans, etc., etc., etc., so we must all, work our five-to-nines, and when we get home, we still, work some more, and what’s sacrificed here, is the time we have with our own young (still don’t got one!), and we leave our children at the hands of those, electronic baby sitters (i.e. iPads, SmartPhones, T.V.s, etc., etc., etc.) and we neglected that interacting face-to-face with our own young (still don’t got one here!) is what’s most precious, that childhood only comes, but ONCE, for most of us anyways!

And yet, do you, FUCKING (don’t pardon me here!) parents do anything about that?  HECK no, you still, DUMP your children off on whoever’s available, whoever you’re, currently, PAYING, to care for them, when it should be, Y-O-U, who needs to spend the time with them!
