How this younger generations of children are BORN, with that high-tech gadget, ATTACHED to their, bodies here! Off of the Front Page Sections, translated…
I’d left my cell phone on the tables, my three-year-old young grandchild saw it, and got curious, modeled after the adults, started sliding on it up and down the screens, the temptations from the cell phones are simply, too great; as the children can’t put them down, the parents needed to feel alerted.
My grandchild complained, that some kids in his preschool class already have cell phones. So, when is the right age to give a child one became the worries and considerations of parents of the digital era. I’d once collected the data and found, that the earliest that parents give their young a cell phone was at age seven, in Great Britain, while Taiwan, the U.S., Japan, and China were at about twelve and thirteen years of age. The reason why parents would give their young cell phones is to get in touch with them when they need to, to know their children’s, whereabouts, so at most, the kids were only given the simplistic phones that allows for text-messaging, and calling.
and this, is what we’re, dealing with…
My nephew from his elementary years on, is a gifted and talented student, and even as he’d entered the middle school years, he had yet to ask his parents for a cell phone; as he got into an all-star high school, because the school is far away from home, his parents gave him a cell phone so they can check in on him, but, he’d gone, head first, into the land of cell phone games, and couldn’t focus on his studies anymore.
One night, as my daughter saw her son playing on his cell phone, she’d nagged a bit, my nephew got up, slammed the door, and left the house, didn’t come home until late in the nights. The control of usage of phones of children, caused children to rebel, and it’d become, this never-ending war between the generations. “If we want to destroy a child, just give her/him a cell phone!”, this applies to high school students, as well as children younger, who have even lesser self-control, seeing too many cases of children destroyed by cell phones, I can’t help but feel alerted, but, being too strict, or not strict enough on the rules won’t work well, and if you can’t control your kids in their cell phone usages, it may hurt the mind as well as the body too.
and, when you take the gadgets away…
The parents need to set an example, to NEVER use the phones at mealtime or family gatherings, and set up the rules with the children, and following the rules as a family unit. When you can communicate face-to-face, never use texts to, the most precious is parent-child interactions. Cell phones are means for communication, no need to ban it from your kids’ use, you should instead, utilize the cell phones, to help your children learn about self-control.
And so, because these high-tech gadgets are too addictive, not just to children, but to adults as well, that’s why this is a problem now, because children still modeled after their parents, and the children are coming into contact with high-tech gadgets younger and younger, and, banning them from using these high-tech gadgets, devices would be, impossible, so you need to set up the rules for usage, like the writer suggested here, so your children won’t become addicted, and you won’t have problems, making sure they don’t overuse the cell phones, the tabloids, or whatever other forms of high-tech devices there are available out there.
