More than Half are Getting Along Quite Well with the Parents, but the Rates of Suicide, of Depression, at the Highest in Ratio in History
The parents today, are facing a generation who are, most willing to get closer to the parents, but the most unhappy. In the “2018 Adolescent & Children Life Experiences Survey” conducted by the Department of Health Welfare & Sanitations, it’d shown that 67.5-percent of surveyed stated that they are “getting along well with their mothers, and hold conversations often”, and there are 55.6-percent who are the same with their fathers. But, this generation also, runs the highest in suicide rates and depression diagnoses, the statistics of Department of Sanitation & Welfare showed, that the rates of adolescent suicide and adolescents on medication in 2019 is at an all-time high in history.
There are similar trends in other countries too, “The Generation I Reports” quoted the statistics of U.S., which found, that this generation of American youths are more closely related to their parents, and, ran away less. But it also showed, that the rates of severe depression and suicide rates are also, hiking up steadily.
This generation of parents put all of their hearts into raising their young, connected better with their children compared to the generations that came before, so, why are the younger generations less happy? The Child Welfare League’s 2019 “Children and Teens Welfare Questionnaire” found, that the children are less happy by the year, that the life-satisfaction measures of 2019 are at an all-time low, 74.6, lower than the past years’.
The Children’s Problems, the Busy Parents Wanted a Speedy Solution
The authoritarian parents are reduced in numbers, sure, “but actively getting involved became, a mutated for of authoritarian parenting style, and control”. The office manager of the Children’s Welfare Policy League, Lee observed, with the burdens of stress of economics on the rise, the longer work hours, the unfriendly work environment for the families, the parents are, busier than ever. When children bump into problems in their lives, the parents don’t have the patients to wait for the problems to get resolved through time, only wanted to find a speedy solution.
The older children are faced with the stagnant in payrate, the competition of globalization, they knew a long, long time ago, that whatever major they are in, won’t guarantee them a good future. And all of these problems, the parents will need to spend more time to resolve, with their children.
The Parents Need to Know How to Effectively Relieve Their Stress, So the Children Can Learn by Modeling Too
The prerequisite of having happy children, is if the parents are, happy too. The head counselor of Chien-Guo High School, Yao reminded, that the families not happy, with the parents hating their jobs, all of this can, affect the offspring in emotions, and values, “the dual-income households should not focus solely on work, and the worlds of parents shouldn’t just be about children. As the parents knew how to stress-relief, then the children will learn to effectively as well.”
The Children Expected “You’re on My Side”
“The parents must admit, that some things, are beyond, our abilities to handle”, the head of psychological wellbeing of the Boss Foundation, Yeh stressed, that toward the adolescents’ pouring their hearts out, the parents should NOT rush in giving them advice, they can admit to the adolescent children, “This is, a difficult problem, but I’m willing to think up of a working solution with you”. What kids expect from the parents, aren’t superparents, but parents who will, “stand beside me.”
And so this sheds light into, WHAT our children NEED from us, companionship, NOT that hero, that’ll come into their lives, and SOLVE their problems FOR them, how are they going to learn, IF you managed everything for them, huh??? And yet, there are, only, a tiny number of parents who take the time, to LISTEN to what their kids are, telling them, while most of you guys out there just, still work, work, work, put that good on the table, giving the kids enough money to go to those, cram school sessions (as we all need to make better grades, in order, to MAKE something of ourselves, right???), and in all of this, you, @$!%ING parents forgot, wow, I need to, BE there FOR my kid, to support him emotionally!
