An accidental death here, off of the Front Page Sections, translated…
A party of five men and women went together to between Ruifang and Pingxi to canoe, at the hiking trail in Ruifang, they’d passed a shallow place, as the woman, Yu went to transport her canoe over, she’d, mis-stepped, and, sunk into the river, her legs got stuck in the cracks of the rocks, and she’d, drowned, her companions were able to rescue her back up, but she’d stopped breathing, although they’d rushed her off the mountains, to the E.R, she’d still, died, the police asked the D.A. to conduct an autopsy to determine the real cause of her death.
The Hsinbei Fire Department received a call yesterday afternoon, said that Yu had drowned on the Keelung River upstream’s Yo-Keng trail, the location was in the distant mountains the rescuers were able to arrive at the site by three, and they’d followed the trails, by four, when they’d found her, she’d already, stopped breathing, and everybody hauled her body to the entrance of the hiking trail, lifted her up to the ambulance, rushed her to the Miners’ Hospital in Ruifang.
The group of friends told the firefighters, the group of three men two women, were canoeing, as they passed a shallow part of the river, they got off the canoe, and carried it across, that Yu seemed to have mis-stepped, and sank into the water, and she was wearing a life vest, but her feet were caught in the rocks and couldn’t get herself up and out, everybody rushed over to where she sank in, and worked hard, to pull her back up together.
The police found, that Yu (age 48) with the four other companions, are all avid canoeists, they’d gone to canoe together, but this was a distant location, and the locals stated, that the riverbed was unevenly, that it’s quite dangerous, to canoe there, that those who aren’t familiar with the river can easily, miss a step.
The police said, that this party of five rowed all the way down from Pingxi, as Yu was rescued out, she’d shown no vital signs, but the reason behind why she’d drowned is still being investigated on.
And this still showed, just how DANGEROUS it can be, on the waters even IF you can swim, if you go out to an unfamiliar location like this party of five had, you will NOT know how deep the water is, and that was what caused this woman to drown to death, being unfamiliar with the region, and still, going into the water to canoe.
