A cold case, from SEVENTEEN years ago, finally got solved! Off of the Front Page Sections, translated…
Seventeen years ago, a man, Chung was waiting for the light to turn in Zhongshan District of Taipei, he was hacked on the neck by a man named Lin, and, Lin’s father forcibly took his Lobo scooter that’s worth $8,000N.T. then, and because Chung fought hard, and, Lin was cut by his own knife, left the blood behind, the police originally wanted to take the sample to find out who the assailants were but there were no comparison samples, the case stayed, unsolved, until last year, Lin was taken to prison on drug charges, and needed to give a saliva sample to get registered on file, as the Criminal Investigation Bureau checked the samples, they’d, declared the case solved, finally.
Because Lin’s father already died, when the police called Lin in, he’d, blamed it all on his father, but the blood from the scene belonged to Lin, and so, the police charged him with the robbery.
The police found, that Lin (age 43), back in 2003, in an alley off of Jiling Road, robbed Chung of his Lobo motorcycle at knife-point, and because there weren’t street cameras installed, the police can only take in the blood sample from the struggled left behind in the fight, but there wasn’t DNA database back then set up, and there’s no comparison samples.
Until mid last year, Lin was taken into custody on drug charges, and needed to give a saliva sample to the police, and the Criminal Investigations computer database matched it with the DNA of the robbery suspect of the case on Jiling Road, and notified the Zhongshan Police substation to open the investigations again.
As the police called Chung in, Chung still recalled the robbery like it was yesterday, he’d told it was rainy, he’d ridden his motorcycle to the teashop to visit a friend, wanted his friend to help him find a job, as he’d waited at the light, a man attacked him, the man hacked him to injury with a knife, and came another man who made away with his motorcycle, and the pedestrians on the roads helped him call the police.
The police “borrowed” Lin from prison to interrogate, Lin claimed that the “tea shop” that Chung spoke of was actually a loan shark, that his father was scammed by the loan sharks, and as his father saw Chung, he thought that Chung worked for the loan sharks, that was why his father told him to hack him down.
Based off of understanding, since 2003, Lin stayed away from the radars of the police, during which time, he’d worked the odds and ends, and, lived in with a relative in Banciao, kept himself lowkey, off of the radar of the police.
And yet, you still got caught, sure, it was, close to TWO decades since your “mistaken identity” HACKING of an innocent man, and this still just showed, that you will, NEVER escape from the bad thing you do, you may not get caught today, tomorrow, the day after, and it may be, years and years, and still, more YEARS until you are, caught, but, you WILL get, ARRESTED eventually, like how this man thought he’d escaped, but he actually, hadn’t!
