It’s still, NOT the foods itself, but the heart that goes into, preparing the items, for that certain someone in need, translated…
My single friend is hospitalized for her surgery, I’d cooked based off of the list she’d given to me, readied to make the delivery on the day. My daughter asked me, “don’t people bring the flowers, or the fruits when they visit someone at the hospital, why are you, bringing the meals?”, I think, this had, to do, with my own, understanding, of the, situation.
One day, my neighbor visited me, and noted my situation, and that very evening, she’d brought over a plate of cabbage, and spinach, and stressed that these two items are good for women who are, pregnant. Looking at the greens, it’d felt like sunshine and blue skies, and I’d, started, having a chow-down immediately.

As I finished the plates, I’d not only felt comforted, but tears also came to me—it was, the tears from, being, moved, I’m touched by how kind my neighbor was.
When my mother-in-law was ninety, she fell ill, and stayed in the ICU for a whole week, the very first day she got moved into the regular wards, she’d told me hurriedly, “Do go home, and make the egg fried rice for me, first, fry up the garlic, then, add in the eggs, remember that.” As my mother-in-law had what she wanted, she’d not complained of the discomforts of the body, just focused on how aromatic the food smelled, how it’d, tasted, so amazing; because of that plate of egg fried rice, she’d started, glowing, and that stayed with me.
As we’d felt ill, or wasn’t in a place to cook, and, there’s that food that we’d, longed for so much, if someone else understood your needs, and personally made the items for you, the heart, the thought that goes into that, can give the foods, the healing properties too.
So, this is on, seeing someone’s need, and do what you can, to provide it for that person, and because the heart, the thoughtfulness that goes into the cooking, it made the person who is on the receiving end of this gift more grateful, which in turn, made the foods tasted, even better…
