Alcohol has the tendency, to make us misinterpret things that were said, and, the actions of others, as this murder shows, off of the Front Page Sections, translated…
The man, Chen went to his friend, Yang’s house for a drink last year, Yang had also invited another friend, Lai, Lai called Wu, and Hong to his house; during the time they were drinking, they’d engaged, Chen was subdue by Lai in an altercation, he got angered, rushed to the kitchen, grabbed a butcher’s knife, and fought back, but, as he saw Hong first, he’d, HACKED Hong on the neck, Hong was severely injured, and resuscitated for nine whole days then died, the High Subsidiary Courts of Taichung found Chen guilty of manslaughter, sentenced him to ten years six months. This can still be appealed.
On the second trial, the Collectivist Courts considered, that before the case, Chen didn’t even know the victim, that he’d hacked the left carotid of his victim, not only had he committed murder on someone he didn’t even know, he’d caused the victim’s families this inerasable pain, and not reached a settlement agreement with them yet, and the judge considered all of this in sentencing.

The verdict pointed out, that Chen and his girlfriend on the evening of October 5th of last year, were invited by a friend, Yang, to his home to drink, and another friend, Kao was there too; not long thereafter, Yang called two more of his friends, Wu and Lai to come, Lai brought along his coworkers, Wu and Hong, arrived at Yang’s residence late in the night, they’d drunk together, talked, and partied.
The next morning around midnight, Lai, Wu, and Hong, as they were about to walk out of the house, Kao, because he got too drunk, refused to let them leave, as Yang saw, he’d blocked between the two groups, and shouted, and told Kao to let the three leave first, while Chen went up to try to sort out the confrontations, and, he got into argument with Lai, pushed Lai, Lai then, pinned Chen down, warned him, “Don’t do it again!”, Chen replied, “okay”, Lai let him go, and turned to leave.
At this time, Chen walked into Yang’s kitchens, hidden a butcher’s knife on him, walked out of the residence, told Lai and others to stop, the three turned, Chen rammed out of the kitchen, and saw Hong first, and hacked at him, on the left side of the neck, Hong didn’t have time to dodge the attack, the injury was twelve-centimeters long and one-and-a-half centimeters wide, five centimeters deep, he was rushed to the E.R., and they surgeons worked on him for nine days, and he’d, still died of his severe injuries.
And, alcohol is still, the CATALYST here, I mean, if these guys didn’t get PLASTERED, then, they would NOT have, overreacted, overinterpreted the actions of one another, and, this hacking someone he didn’t even know down, would’ve, NEVER occurred, but, because they got drunk, and, alcohol impaired their ways of interpreting a normally unthreatening act, as something threatening, so that, is why this murder happened. And no, alcohol is still, NOT “charged”!
