Would the death penalty be, a bit, too harsh, given this woman’s, living circumstances? From the tragedy of how the mother, murdered her own young, a few days ago, off of the Front Page Sections, translated…
The newspaper reported on w single mother, Wu, because of how she was overcome with the pressures of life, and she has depression, she’d, murdered her own young this February, as her ex found that something wasn’t quite right, he’d reported it, but the children were already, dead, while Wu’s life was, spared, the district attorney’s offices charged her with murder; the District Court on the first trial sentenced her to the death penalty. The judge considered, how Wu was faced with unbearable burdens of keeping herself as well as her two young children alive, and whether or not the death penalty would be, enforced, it’s still in the unknown, and there are those members of the public who criticized on the cold-bloodedness of the judge.
Behind every tragedy, there’s, always, that story of blood and tears, but, the past events in one’s life, should not yield such, tragic, results. Wu had been raising her two children on her own for long term, and we can imagine how overcome she was of the economic burdens. And naturally, she’d, lost her freedom too, and, as she’s at her road’s end, she’d thought of taking her kids to commit suicide with her. As the district courts held its session, the judge believed, that Wu has the responsibilities to raise and care for her own young, that she shouldn’t murder them because of the economic pressures of life being too great, claimed, that if she doesn’t get separated from the rest of the society, if she faces pressures in the future, it’s hard to say, if she’ll, commit murder again, and so, the courts passed the death penalty for her in this case. And, as the verdict came out, the society started, discussing the matter, and naturally, the opinions aren’t all, one-sided.
The people can’t understand, why there were, other convicts who’d committed even more heinous crimes and are believed to be able to be reformed, but this tragic case of family matter, the mother is sentenced to die? We don’t have the evidence, we can’t know, if the judge knew and understood, the pressures that Wu is faced with, and, had she, murdered, just because she had a awful period of time in her life.
Since the births of her two children, Wu had been the sole care provider for them, and, she couldn’t find stable job after she married, is it the society that’s ill, or is the mother ill as well? And, all of this may be determined by a psych evaluation, but, are there the protective nets of reporting the matter, with the Department of Social Services not stepping in on time, causing this, tragedy as the end result.
And so, it’s very important, communicating with those involved, Wu had no priors, and, was she at the end of her rope, at her wit’s, end, being forced to take her children with her in her suicide, the death penalty offers automatic appeal.
The judge presiding over this case is having it hard too. The key point of the case is that those kids lost their lives, and that being in a hard place is no excuse for murdering the young, and so, the verdict is based off of the structure of this case, and the entanglement of the law, or the reasoning, and of feelings are at play here.
And so, this, is what this case offered, some thoughts, on what drove this woman to murder her own two children, and she should receive the ultimate harshest punishment in the rules of the law, or should the law be lenient, in considering, how she’s at the end of her own ropes when she turned to murder, that, is something worth, thinking about.
