From the newly implemented curriculum reforms of the middle and high school education years, and, the parents and a lot of teachers are, still MISSING the point here, off of the Front Page Sections, translated…
The Learning Experiences Profiles of the 2019 Curriculum Plan is the key point of college entrance for students in the future, and there are a ton of cram schools that are, trying to make the extra earnings off of this. But the experts advised, that rather than parents spending a ton of money on the cram school sessions, sending their young into summer and winter camps, they should spend more time carry on in conversations with their own young more, encourage the children to take records of their school activities, to take notes in class, so they can see the clear progress in their learning, what the universities hoped to see, is the continual growth and the process of becoming of the students.
“The professors would NEVER just review the results of the learning processes, they would also, evaluate how much time is put into the areas of interests, and the students’ development in the field in their futures too.” The secretary of enrollment committee, Dai stated, that the professors would note quickly, if something had been forced by the cram schools, and the projects that the parents spent a ton of money for their young to complete may not even fit to the requirements of evaluation.
Dai made the example, of how a rich student from a cram school background, receiving third-place in competition, compared with a student who’d made her/his own progresses by trial and error, initiating her/his own learning experiences, the college professors may not select the student who won third-place trophy. What the professors are looking for, are the students who are “active in their own learning experiences.”, if the students have the qualities, this can be found in the three years of learning progress profiles that the students submitted, by seeing if the students had, utilized the resources offered to them at the high school levels.
“The parents should NOT be hurried, to create that perfect learning experience profiles”, the principal of the Fuxing High School of Taipei stated, the projects made by the students during their first year may not be much, but they will become more and more familiar, and the parents should let the students feel motivated themselves, to improve their skills, instead of measuring the students’ progresses by the parents’ standards.
The Luminescent Education Foundation’s C.E.O., Lang suggested, parents should encourage their own young to record what interest them in their daily lives, carry on in conversation with their young regularly, set specific times for conversations, asking how the children are learning in school, what they’d discovered, what they found interesting in what they’d heard the teachers teach, and if the records aren’t kept in time, and they want to make it up in a year or two, then, what’s learned are, usually, forgotten already.
And so, this learning process profile, is just to see if the students can check themselves, if they can start initiating their own learning processes, and it’s a brand new thing here, because until now, the students in the primary, secondary education levels are all being forced to cram in the information on the texts, to help them pass the tests, and now, this new curricula is trying to start the students on a different sort of a learning processes, that they’re the ones, initiating the learning, instead of the lecturers, teachers, yapping in class, and the students with their heads lowered, and taking notes, dozing off in class, or whatever. That, is the goal, of this, learning progress profile thing, not for the sake of, wow, it looks good on my college application, and so, I think (but that’s just me still!), this new reform is, still more misses than hits.
