The thirty-eight-year-old man, Chiu, two afternoons ago, rode past an alley of Longtan District in Taoyuan, found a pair of young children playing out by their house, he’d pulled over and struck up conversation, and tried to coax the young children away, telling them that he can take them to see rabbits, but thankfully the older sister was smart enough, got inside and told the parents, “some uncle said he was going to take us to see rabbits!”, Chiu ran off in a hurry, and five hours later he was arrested, and took into the D.A.’s office on attempted kidnapping charges.

The police found, that Chiu lives in Daxi, is unmarried, with his own parents, he’d worked as a delivery driver for a factory, two afternoons ago, he was out wandering in his car, as he drove into an alley in Longtan District, saw a pair of young children out, playing by the front of their doors; he’d ridden his scooter back and forth and observed them, and made certain that there was no adults around, then, stopped his scooter and struck up a conversation with them.
As Chiu engaged them in conversations, he’d told them that he’d found some rabbits close by, it’d caused the children to get curious, and he’d tried to coax the young siblings onto the scooter with him; the older girl turned into their home, told their parents, “an unknown uncle wanted to take them to see the animals,” the parents felt odd and walked out of the house to check, as Chiu saw that his plans weren’t going to work, he ran off.
The words of someone trying to kidnap children got out locally, and it’d caused discussions, as well as panic too, the parents immediately reported the incident to the local police substation, the police quickly reviewed the surveillances and identified Chiu, two nights ago, they went to his residence in Daxi and took him in to interrogation.
Chiu admitted that he’d told the young children he was going to take them to see the rabbits, but denied having alternative motives; the neighbors told, that Chiu was very quiet, acted normal, the police checked and found no priors related to this latest incident and found no records of him being unlawful, and after they interrogated him, then sent him to the D.A.’s offices on charges of intents of kidnapping.
The police had enforced patrol locally, and called out to the parents to watch for their young, to prevent them from playing out alone, that they should stay close to their young when they’re out playing.
And so, surely, there was, that intent to abduct the children, and who knows what, but thankfully, the older girl was quick enough, that she’d gone into her home and told the parents, and this perp still got caught.
