The details of the man with schizophrenia murdering his own mother, off of the Front Page Sections, translated…

The man from Jiali, Tainan murdering his own mother, the murderer, Lee was diagnosed with schizophrenia, his mother took him home from the institution to care for him herself, and because Lee refused to take his medication as he was supposed to, last week his families took him back to the clinic for his injections, they planned to start the home treatment plan next Monday, and, he’d, murdered his mother.

The Department of Health & Sanitations in Tainan pointed out, that the public health services social workers would follow up the cases of schizophrenia patients long term, and there were the five levels of severity.  The level one patients with higher severity, the case workers would visit their homes at least once every month; the cases that were released by the hospital all start with the basic levels of level one services.  This case was registered as a level one, and the department had been keeping tabs on this case since his release at the end of September.

The department head of the psychiatric department of An-Nan Hospital, Chang pointed out, that the patients diagnosed with schizophrenia need medications regularly, if the patients won’t comply with orally taking the medications, they can be taken to the hospitals for the injections, to reduce the symptoms.  On the sentencing and imprisonment of schizophrenics, he believed that the justice system should work with the psychiatric hospitals, he’d recommended that the government get on the same page on the treatment options.

The head of the Department of Sanitation Welfare, Shen stated, that unless the symptoms are severe enough that the patient start injuring others, then, it would be next to impossible to force the individuals into hospital.  And the families need to sign the papers, agreeing to the forced hospitalization, and after being hospitalized, there would be a need of a whole month worth of medications administered, before the patient is to be, released, to get the symptoms stabilized, but with Lee’s conditions, if he’d hollered he wanted to go home, and in the requests and demands of the family members, the hospital must, discharge him.

And so, this, is really hard to measure and weigh, I mean, how do you know, that it’s safe to release these mental patients back to their families, when they can’t even stay in the hospitals, and when the families demand that the hospital release their loved ones, and so, this, is something that needed to be discussed, to come up with a better solution, so these sorts of tragedies can occur, less and less.
