The man who’d only retired from the Farmer’s Union, the sixty-six year-old Chung, yesterday around noon, drove his wife and a pair of young grandchildren out, as he drove across the bridge in Nanzhuang, Miaoli, he’d made a pass and lost control of the car, the car hit the shoulders, then, flipped off to the five-meter deep ravines, the car was turned upside down, Chung suffered severe head injuries, died on the way to the hospitals, his wife suffered injuries too; their two young grandchildren were strapped in tightly in their car seats, only had minor scratches, the police and investigators are currently investigating the cause of the accident now.
The police investigated, that this January, Chung retired from the Farmers’ Union and started enjoying his life, playing with his young grandchildren, he’d looked after his two year old young grandson and one-year-old young granddaughter regularly; yesterday morning he took his wife to Nanzhuan for her health checks, the two young grandchildren were strapped into the carseats in the back.
At noon, the family was headed home, as the man drove past the turn of the Miaoli Route 21 through the Dragon Bridge, the bridge turned sharply, and the car rammed past the shoulders, into the ditches and a small pass, the car was ten meters above, hanging from the bridge, hit the cement bricks, then, bounced, fell five meters downward, the car was flipped upside down.
The police and fire department were called, the four members of the family were all underneath the car, and in about an hour’s time, they were all rescued out, of them, Chung suffered severe head injuries, was bleeding, lost his pulse, and died as the paramedics rushed him to the hospital; his wife on the right passenger’s side suffered impact on her left thorax and abrasions on her left forearm and face, was kept in the hospital for observations; the two young children were strapped into their car seats, and only suffered minor abrasions, scratches on their bodies, but no life-threatening injuries.
Back then the witnesses behind them claimed, that as Chung pass the car in front of him, they didn’t know why he’d not returned to his original lane, and just kept driving straightforward, until his car flew off the turn.
Because Chung’s wife was in shock, she’d, blacked out on what had happened during the crash, couldn’t tell the police exactly what had happened; the district attorneys are going to check closely at what exactly had caused this accident today.
And so, this, I tragic, and, it’s more than likely to be caused by speeding, because this man was making a pass, and, he’d not been familiar with the landscapes, not knowing that the roads are going to turn so sharply, and that was why this accident occurred.
