Some good news, finally! Off of the Newspapers, translated…
The woman who’s registered as a low-income, a single mother, Wang, other than putting her daughter through her doctoral education, for seventeen years, she’d also helped a mildly retarded man with diabetes, Chang to find a way to make his living. Over four years ago, she’d picked up on making the traditional Chinese buns, made more than a hundred per day, and, gave it to Chang to sell to the neighbors so he can live off of himself, her actions made her neighbors impressed.
Wang recalled, seventeen years ago, she’d worked in a factory, Chang lived close to the factory where she’d worked, and, as he saw her, he’d, started following her around, and she couldn’t chase him away. Back then her husband had passed away, she took care of her daughter on her own, and she decided to take care of Chang as well.
The fifty-four year-old man, Chang, after his parents passed, his family members would abuse him after they got drunk. As Wang found that Chang would run away, she can only give him $2,000N.T. to $3,000N.T. for rent to stay on his own.
Wang said, because Chang couldn’t remember the orders, isn’t articulate enough, stubborn, with epilepsy, a lot of the shops wouldn’t want to hire him. Other than receiving $3,500N.T. per month from social welfare, in Wang’s help, Chang sold the Chinese traditional buns that Wang made for him outside the shopfronts, to make a living on his own.
Chang would go to Wang’s house early in the morn, to pick up the batch, then, rode about a kilometer to the location, to sell the buns; even though he’d had to stand for over fourteen hours on end, and made no more than $1,000N.T.’s, but he’s, getting by. Chang said, he’d been selling the buns for over two years, that he was grateful that the owner of the store didn’t chase him away, that if there were the extras he couldn’t sell, he’d delivered them to the orphanage in need, and sell them at a discounted price.
Wang said, because she wanted to help Chang, she’d picked up the skills she’d learned from her own father, started kneading the doughs at four, five in the morn, she was able to make a hundred buns a day, and separated them into twenty bags, and gave to Chang to sell free of charge; because she isn’t well, she’d cared about her own diet, made the buns with the good ingredients. There were those who’d had a taste of her food and shared it online, and it’d brought even more buyers. But this year, because of the outbreak, the sales had, dropped.
And so here we have a woman, who does NOT have very much, but was still willing, able, giving back to someone else, and we need more people like her today in this world right now. It’s her kindness, that’s given this man who’s all alone on his own now, a new lease on life.
