The elderly man, Fang from Chiayi took a bottle of what seemed to be sulfuric acid into the long-term care facility his wife was living in last night, he’d force fed the acid into his wife’s mouth, then, picked up the sheets in an attempt to smother her to death, he was subdued by the workers at the home, Fang then poured the strong acid on himself and the workers who tried to help, not only did he burn his own face, even the foreign hired caretaker, his wife, and three other elderly persons at the home were injured as well, a total of four people were rushed into the E.R., the police is currently trying to understand the motives of why the elderly man did this, they’re looking at investigating the case as an attempted murder.
The Christian Hospital in Chiayi stated, that as Fang (age 71) had been taken in, there were multiple parts of his head, his face, and his body that were, eroded by the strong acid, he was in and out of consciousness, was in critical condition; Fang’s wife was also injured, and the couple were the most severely injured of all who were hurt.
The nursing home worker stated, that as Fang entered into the nursing home to see his wife, he’d acted normal, that none of them would’ve expected that sitting by his wife for a bit, he’d gotten up, grabbed the sheets, and attempted to suffocate her to death, and as the foreign nurse close by saw, she’d immediately screamed out for help, and the workers of the nursing home went up to stop him as well.
As Fang saw people trying to stop him from killing his own wife, he took out the two bottles of strong acid to threaten them, as the workers tried to get him to drop the bottles, he’d suddenly, poured the acid, causing the nursing home staff, his own wife, and two other elderly who were in the vicinity to get injured, and then, he’d, poured the acid all over his own head too, the workers couldn’t stop him in time, he was the most severely injured.
The Social Services Department of Chiayi told, that they’d had the social workers go to the nursing home to understand what had happened, and to help the residents calm down, that they will attempt to understand what had caused this from the police investigations, to see if there are the issues of management in the facility as well.
And so, we really don’t know what was going through this elderly man’s mind, as he attacked his own wife. He was either wanting to kill her, to spare her from getting worse in her condition, or that he may have had a hard time, paying for her care, or whatever, nobody knows, but, he had, attempted to, MURDER his own wife, and, even IF it’s out of the love he felt for her, which I’m thinking that it wasn’t, but I wouldn’t know, it’s still attempted murder!
