In a family in Kinmen, the parents refused to let their four children go to school, and they’d started teaching them the classics at home, and this had continued on for eleven years, and still go unresolved, although the government fined the parents, but the parents had, gotten rid of all their assets, moved their registrations, but refused to file for the homeschooling programs, the Kinmen branch of Taiwan Fund for Children & Families yesterday led the social workers to the county government, to urge them to get the four children to go to school, the Department of Education promised to set up a specialty task force, to negotiate the matter with the parents again.
“Sir, please help us go to school!”, the head of the local branch of Taiwan Fund for Families & Children, Lee led the social workers to the local government office and pleaded, the workers stated, that there are three sons, one daughter from this family, eleven years ago, as the eldest was supposed to register for the first grade year, his parents had, refused to let him enter into school, until the youngest of four is school age, the parents still refused to let her get schooled, and there are, two siblings between the eldest and the youngest, who shared their, same fates, and, based off of the age calculation, the eldest son should be a last year high school student this year, and the youngest sister should be in the fourth grade.
Lee stressed, that these children were stripped of the right to receive a free education by their own parents by force, they couldn’t get educated in the academia, and didn’t have enough opportunity of interacting with their peers, he’d worried of the children’s futures, and, after careful thought, he’d, decided, to speak up for them.
Lee handed the plea to the head of local Department of Education, Lo, Lo told, that the local government tried to handle the matter, but, they’d, bumped into the dead-ends with the parents as well, and they’d, counseled the parents, that they can, file for the homeschooling programs for their own young, but the parents were, resistant, and they’d, invited the social services, the police station, and the county land offices to set up the task forces, and, they’re, going by the laws, and will continue to try to talk the parents into enrolling their children in school.
The Department of Education told, that every now and then, they’d sent the social workers to the home to visit, but the parents believed, that a degree is pointless, and used the ancient texts to teach their own young, and this had, gotten the attention of the local department of education at one time, they’d sent the experts to get to know the situation, but, the expert suggested, “homeschool” at the end; the social worker on the case told, that the parents had once, moved the registry of the children to Taiwan, to dodge the rules enforced by the county government of Kinmen, that the county government had fined the household a total of $480,000N.T. total to date, and the parents got rid of their assets, and, they’d not paid a cent.
And so, these are, selfish parents, who’d, DENIED their own young their most basic rights: the right to receive an education, and, we really don’t know the reason, but, this just showed, how helpless children are, in the hands, of adults who, ruled over them, and this is just, wrong, to NOT allow your own young to get an education, so they can have a better life than you!
