The Burmese-Asian man, Lee, three years ago, committed arson in his rental apartment, causing nine deaths and five injury, the police officer from Taipei, Wang also died, after Lee was arrested, he’d claimed, “a voice in my head told me to do it!”
The first and second trial all found him guilty, and sentenced him to death, the Highest Courts tossed the appeals back for a retrial, and the verdict of the retrial that came at the end of March this year still gave Lee the death penalty, and stripped him of his government post for life, yesterday, the Highest Courts, for the second time, retracted the verdict of death penalty, and sent it back to the High Courts to get the case retried.
The Highest Courts pointed out, that the verdict of the first retrial didn’t specifically state where the evidence came from, and its, legality, that it couldn’t prove anything; and, from the stimuli that Lee was overwhelmed with when the crime was committed, the first retrial had, failed to consider, and, that the evidence weren’t examined thoroughly enough, that it’s, unconstitutional.
And, on the character of Lee, the first retrial found that Lee had set a fire a second time before he’d set the fire that killed nine, he was already convicted of arson, and therefore, should KNOW that setting a fire is illegal, but the verdict of the two previous charges didn’t get set until March 28th, 2018, and this crime was committed on November 22nd, 2017, which hadn’t matched up to the dates of the first retrial, and so, the Highest Courts tossed it back to get the case retried.
Lee (age 52) had arrived in Taiwan twenty years ago, and is naturalize. He broke up with his girlfriend in March, 2016, thought it was his friend who’d, caused it, and fought with the man, committed arson twice, and was sentenced to four month, and a year separately, and he’d committed arson again in November of 2017, and this time, he’d, killed, nine people.
The first trial at the Hsinbei District Court based off of the psych evaluation from N.T.U. Hospital, believed, that Lee knew what he was doing, as he’d set the fire, he’d, returned to the scene to watch, and stole some clothes to change to try to evade arrest; that he was, even more carefully thoughtful than ordinary person, his arson killed innocent people, and it’d, fitted to the “most severe of all crimes” and he was, given the death penalty.
The second retrial at the High Courts found, that Lee used such methods to kill, had no empathy, and this sort of a personality, even IF he were incarcerated, it still, wouldn’t change him from the inside, thus, maintained the ruling of death penalty, but, the death penalty was tossed back by the Highest Courts. And the first retrial on March 31st, sentenced Lee to die a third time.
And so, due to the maliciousness of his murderous acts, the courts had NO other options, but to sentence him to D-I-E, after all, he can’t be, reformed, and he’d, knowingly, murdered people, which mean, he knew what he was doing was WRONG, and still went ahead, and did it anyways, and that’s, malice!
