The bus driver, just LEFT this man in an electric wheelchair on the side of the road, and now, the bus company will get fined for the awful treatment that this driver gave to this handicapped individual, this is, truly, VERY, awful!!!  From the Newspapers, translated…

The Youth Counseling Committee Member, Hu has ALS, he’d needed the electric wheelchair to get around out.  In the midnight hours of last night, he got off the Luzhou MRT and was about to take the bus home, the bus driver denied him entry, “the electric wheelchair isn’t the same as the traditional wheelchair!” and left him on the cross sections in the middle of the nights, “I didn’t even know if I’ll make it home”, until twenty minutes later, another bus came, and he was able to get home without any troubles;  the Sanchong Bus Transport told, that they will accompany the driver to apologize and give him a punishment, and the department of transportation stated that if the facts are proven, then, they will fine the bus company as well as the driver a maximum of $90,000N.T.s.

Hu who lives in Wugu District, Hsinbei City, needed to take the bus to Luzhou MRT station, then, go to MRT Taipei Main Station, transfer onto a train to Shuanxi where he worked, a one way trip takes at least two and a half hours, and he’d needed to get out of his home by four in the morn, and, couldn’t get back home until midnight.

Hu pointed out, that yesterday at midnight he’d, got off of Luzhou Station and was about to take Route 857 home, and finally a bus came, the driver used the excuse of “the electric wheelchair isn’t a wheelchair” refused to take him, and even though he’d told the driver that he was getting around on the wheelchair, the driver ignored him, and just, drove off.

Hu stated, that there’s only one more bar of battery left in his electric wheelchair, whether if it were me, or my wheelchair, I can’t, get myself across the bridge over Danshui River, toward the rules that the driver didn’t know, he’d not called his company to make sure.  “Instead, he’d, left me, on the side of the road, my heart is too tired, I was about, to have, that meltdown!”

The manager of Sanchong Bus, Kao stated, that the driver mistook the electric wheelchair for the electric scooter, and not helped Mr. Hu, and if Mr. Hu agreed, the bus company will accompany the bus driver to offer their apologies, and will retrain the drivers, and give him a punishment, and they will tell all drivers, that if the passengers on electric wheelchair need assistance, they will help them alight the buses.

The Hsinbei Tranportation Department’s manager, Lin told, that they will review over the surveillance footages, and if the bus driver’s behaviors were confirmed, then, the driver will get fined anywhere from $9,000N.T. to $90,000N.T. based off of the 77th Regulation of Traffic Rules.

And so, this bus driver just, didn’t want to pull up the sliding scaffolds to allow the man to get on the bus, and, this is BULLSHIT, and this world isn’t the least bit, friendly toward those who are, handicapped, and, there will be, more in this population who will require wheelchairs to get around, because the population is aging faster than ever, and, when we’re all elderly, many of us, won’t be mobile like we once were, and we’d, need the wheelchairs to get around.  And, a wheelchair IS a wheelchair IS a wheelchair, regardless of whether it was battery-powered or not!
