An opportunity for education, OUTSIDE of the classroom came, and so, this mother, took it, lessons can be taught, and learned, in your everyday life here, translated…
In recent years, the Pokemon Go game had taken the world by storm, and, it’d started up the endless merchandise opportunities too, of them, the “Tretta cassettes” is hit collector’s item. My coworker’s son was a fanatic, he’d often, shown of his own collection to his older cousins, and, those delicate cards, it’d, kept those boys quiet playing for hour on end, and yet, one day, the cards caused something huge.
On the weekends, I’d gathered out with my coworker, and her son called, sobbed that his most precious two cards he’d lent to his older cousin didn’t get returned back to him, and, as he’d realized they were gone, his aunt already, lifted his cousin home, and he’d not known how to handle it, and so, he’d called up his mother and cried.
As her son was crying his heart out, my coworker tried soothing him, and, ordered the meals, finished eating her food quickly, then, rushed home to her son; and, a few days later when we worked again, in my curious inquiries, she’d told me what happened afterwards.
Her son told, that the last time he saw the card, was when his older cousin was playing with it on his own, and, as my coworker was driving home, she’d, texted her younger sister, to see if her son’s card was, accidentally, taken by mistake by his two older cousins, and, as she got home, she’d, searched through all corners of the house with her son, and even so, those two card still, vanished, into, thin air, not gotten, found.

And because each and every card had been won by the players, using a ton of time, of heart to get, to my coworker’s son, they were, priceless, and, irreplaceable to him, I’d thought that my coworker, who’d, loved her son very much would, buy the new cards for him, but this time, the way she’d, handled it, was, out of my, expectations.
That very evening, as she’d made sure her son was, no longer emotional, my coworker asked him, “Are you thinking, that your older cousin might have, taken your card away?”, he’d fallen silent, and, nodded a bit. Then my coworker told him, “If this was the case, we can ask dad to drive there, to have aunty help you find the card, to make sure, if it was your older cousin who’d, taken your card away. But we don’t have any solid evidence yet, we can’t, be suspicious of others. When you’d lent someone something, and that something went missing, then, you should ask the individual to help you find it, by the same token, if you borrowed something from someone else, you must, make sure, that you return that item in the condition you’d, borrowed it in.”
My coworker explained this, word-for-word to her son, and, was more than glad, that he was, willing to, take his mother’s, advice, and, after a long rational conversation over the subject, he’s, no longer, fixated on the matter. Actually, she could easily, gone out and buy her son a brand new card, but, rather than using the materials to comfort him, she’d rather used the opportunity to educate her son, to teach her son to take an alternative angle, reminded him how he needed to, watch out for his own belongings, and that he needed to, respect other people’s things too.
And, as for what happened to those cards? Unknown. But, it’d helped the child learned, that maybe, what happened those two cards aren’t that important anymore, the revelations that these two cards gone missing gave to her son, is way more, valuable.
So, this mother, used the opportunity, to EDUCATE her own son, and that still just showed, how lessons can be found, everywhere in life, in the everyday matters, even when the kids fight, it can become, something positive, a lesson, for the children, to learn…
