At the beginning of the outbreaks of MERS-CoV, the subject of if underage Chinese spouses can return back to Taiwan caused great debate, back then, the director of CDC, Chen spoke harshly, “If you’d not selected our nationality, then you must, shoulder the responsibilities for not choosing it”, and, just like that, those “Mings” didn’t come back to Taiwan for five whole months.
And now, as the epidemic slows down, five months had passed, Hong called out twice, to the agencies, even to the president too, that based off of basic human rights, she should step up to handle the issues of Chinese spouses, and to return the truths of “the stories of Mings” back.
So, who are the “Mings”? What classifications are there for these children? The department of immigrations knows the most, then, the Board Members of the Chinese Society, Hong and the head of the Board of Marriage in China, Chung called out yesterday, that these “Mings” are meant to refer to those children born before their parents married here.

The parents’ children from previous marriage followed their parents as the parents married to people here in Taiwan, to live, to study for years, and just like Hong stated, all of these Mings had planned to become citizens here, it’s just that the process of naturalization is still pending and ongoing, as they’d returned back to China for the New Year’s, the epidemic happened, and, because of government policies, they couldn’t be returned back to Taiwan to be with their families.
The Department of Immigrations had suggested this policy to the command centers, then to the Mainland Affairs Council, that these children of previous marriage of the Chinese spouses had selected Taiwan as their nationalities, that they’d not gained citizenship statuses due to purely, the systems, that they shouldn’t be blamed for it.
Chen stated harshly, “You’d not selected to become a citizen here, you will pay the price now!” meant other sorts of children from Chinese spouses, in considering the prevention of spread of MERS-CoV, Chen’s word weighed more heavily than the board’s, the offices of immigrations, but the standards and logic which Chen stated what he’d stated, had been wrong from the start.
And, the DDP talked of human rights all the time, and yet, they wouldn’t even, allow these young children whose citizenship statuses are already pending return back here? Isn’t this, hypocritical of the current government?
And so, all of these children of Chinese spouses all, become nothing more than, that sacrificial PAWN, of this game called politics, and they should be allowed back home, with their parents, even IF one of their parents is of Chinese descent, and yet, because this current president want to split up the country, to an us versus them situation, that’s why, all of these innocent children can’t come back here, to be with their families.
