A diving accident here, resulting in deaths, off of the Front Page Sections, translated…
A man Wu, on the fourteenth of this month went with a Korean friend to Little Okinawa in Pingdong to dive, the two had an accident, the Korean friend died of drowning, after six days of being gone, Wu’s body was found two days ago, afloat in Ludao. As the man went missing, the families posted on FB: “if someone finds him alive we will give the reward of a million dollars, if someone found him dead, we will reward the individual $200,000N.T.s”; as the body was found, the families posted again, thanking everyone who’d helped out, “We’re ready to take dad home now!”, yesterday, the families drove down south, and lifted the man’s body back to Changwha.
Two afternoons ago at around four, the coastguards received a report, said that by the coast of the warm springs in Ludao, there was a male corpse, the crew from the safety department went to check, the deceased was between fifty and sixty years of age, about 5’6, with a watch on the left wrist, dressed in a scuba diving suit, with the anti-slippery shoes, the face was swollen from soaking up in water too long.
The safety department’s crew recalled how awhile ago, the diver, Wu from Little Okinawa went missing, they’d searched the news online to compare, and found that the diver suit, the watch was similar to Wu’s, on the same night, with the coast guard’s help, they’d shipped the body back to Taidong, then had Wu’s family come to identify him, and confirmed the body’s identity as; after the autopsy yesterday afternoon, the D.A. turned the body back to the families.

After Wu went missing on the fourteenth, the families were stressed out and started posting, stating that “if someone finds him alive, we’ll pay one million dollars N.T., but if someone finds his body, we would give the reward of $200,000N.T.s”. Two evenings ago late in the nights, the body was found, the families posted again, “we’re going to see if it’s him, grateful to all who’d helped out, we’re ready to take dad home now.”
The local fishers who knew the currents well told, that Little Okinawa was close to Pingdong, Wu may have been lifted by the currents to the south, close to the straits, got taken by the blacktides all the way up north to Lanyu, Ludao; but this float of the current only occurs in the summertime, in the winters, there would be a different direction then,
And so, this is a tragic accident, it was supposed to be a vacation of sorts, and, both men had, ended up dead, because they’d not paid enough attention to the flow of the current, and they went diving at a location where they’re not familiar with, and that’s, dangerous, especially IF you don’t know the regions’ tides.
