Suspected of Using Too Much Forces to Enforce the Laws, the Police Chief of Atlanta Resigned

There’s, yet, another case of African American getting shot by white officers in the States.  The twenty-seven-year-old African American male, Brooks was at a drive-thru of a Wendy’s on the evening of the 12th, he was suspected of falling asleep, blocking the traffic.  The police told, that he’d not passed the breathalyzer test as they’d administered it to him, and grabbed the Taser from the police, in the pursuit, the police fired shots at him, after Brooks fell, he’d died.  Later, the police chief of Atlanta, Erika Shields had resigned, the police officer who’d fired was fired, another officer was transferred to desk duty.

The riots, the protests on the case of Floyd’s getting killed by a white officer stepping on his neck still hadn’t calmed down yet, and this particular case of police brutality toward an African American immediately caused public anger in the locals of Atlanta.

The crowd that gathered, including Brooks’s families gathered at the scene of his murder on the 13th, and protested, some of the locals committed arson at the Wendy’s, and blocked the traffic at the nearby highway.  The local police stated, that up until midnight of the fourteenth, there had been thirty-six of the protesters arrested.

The city of Atlanta swiftly dealt with the matter, hoping, to reduce the complaints of the locals.  The mayor announced on the press conference on the 13th, that the chief of police had, resigned.  She’d also demanded that the officers who’d opened fire at Brooks to be fired immediately, she said, “I don’t believe there was a just cause for using arms.”  The spokesperson of the Atlanta Police Department stated, the officer who’d fired, Rolfe, had been, fired.

The investigative bureau of Atlanta, Georgia opened the surveillance camera footage, stated, that the Atlanta police received a call, said that a man was sleeping in the drive-thru of Wendy’s, blocking off the traffic.  As the two officers arrived, they’d conducted a breathalyzer test for Brooks, he’d not passed it, but Brooks had resisted arrest, he’d grabbed a taser off of the police who’d come to arrest him, and as he tried getting away, he’d, aimed it at the officers who were trying to arrest him, which caused the officers to fire multiple shots at him, and he was hit, fell to the ground, and taken to the hospital, and died.  One of the officers who was injured was sent to the hospital, but was already, discharged.

The attorney of NAACP stated, “everybody is upset, wanted to know why, Brooks was just napping in hi car, not doing anything, and got shot!”  The attorney also stated, that “even if Brooks was engaging with the officer, they could’ve used a nonlethal manner to subdue him.”

Among the protesters, a woman, who claimed to be Brooks’s sister-in-law told, “He’d not harmed anyone.  The car was parked, and yet, the police dragged him out, and started engaging him.  And he had, grabbed the taser sure, but he’d only grabbed the taser, and tried to run away.”

This is, tragic, surely, but, the man who’d died is, also responsible, for his own death, because if he’d not done anything wrong, why did he run from the police, and, because someone runs, someone’s, bound to, pursue, and this man died in the process, yeah, it’s, unfortunate, surely, and, it could’ve been, prevented, but it still, wasn’t, and this added to the already, burning hot enough, racism that’s, gotten, ignited, since, Mr. Floyd’s brutal murder by the police of Minnesota!
