The kindness from a stranger, translated…
Even though the temperatures dropped to the teens, there were still a ton of people who were there at the local marketplaces shopping. And I’d noticed a woman in her eighties, standing outside of the entrance to the marketplaces, with one leg, steadying herself on a cane, an elderly man, with a pink wash basin, kept nodding their heads at the passersby.
As people are going to and from, an elderly woman who was stout, dressed simple wearing a blue surgical mask who’d come towards the elderly couple. She’d placed a hundred dollar bill into the small basin, then told the elderly man, “Sir, there are too many people here in the marketplace, and the weather is so cold, you should wear a mask!”, as the elderly man heard, he’d become, embarrassed, replied, “Oh yes! Yes, I’m so sorry! I don’t know where I’d put my mask, I can’t find it now!”
As the elderly woman heard, she’d pulled two masks out of her purse, “I just bought these from the pharmacy, you can have them.” As she’d handed the masks to him, she’d taken one out, to help him put it on. Although she’d moved slowly, but, the gesture felt sacred, and warm.
Thinking on it, the elderly woman didn’t just, give out the masks, but also, her sense of caring for a complete stranger too.
This is, truly, something, that’s RARE, especially right now, with the outbreaks happening, people stopped showing cares and concerns for each other, and we only, CARED for ourselves, but there are still, these, tiny little moments of kindness that we saw, that can, touch our hearts very much, like the kindness of this elderly woman toward this elderly man, who is, a complete stranger to her.
