The 42-Year-Old Man, Chen, on the Night of the 22nd, Rode Out on a Stolen Scooter, Used a Knife, Robbed the Woman, Lee at the ATM, Lee is a Burmese-Asian, She was Withdrawing the Amount from Government Assistance, to Get Her Husband’s Medical Costs, the $30,000N.T. Robbed from Her was to Save His Life; the Police Reviewed Over the Street Surveillance Cameras, and Nineteen Hours Later, Chen Was Arrested, and Got the $28,000N.T. that was Left from the Total, after Interrogations, Chen Was Charged with Robbery, and Theft, Sent to the D.A.’s Office, and the District Attorneys Asked the Courts to Mandate His Custody.

Chen works as a janitor, he said he only makes a little over $20,000N.T. a month, he needed $10,000N.T. for his rent, and, he gives his parents $10,000N.T. for taking care of them, and he just, couldn’t make it, that was what compelled him to rob; but the police found out, that after he’d robbed the woman, he’d gone to a sauna in Taipei, and took the cab there, that the money he’d robbed was NOT for the sake of taking care of his parents.

The police stated, that on the 22nd, Chen stole a scooter on Zhongzhen Road first, then, road around for his target; at ten in the evening that night, as Chen rode past a bank on Xing-Nan Road, Section 1, saw the 49-year-old woman, Lee alone, making a withdrawal at the ATM, he was in his raincoat, and helmet, watching her close by; Lee first took $30,000N.T from the ATM into her purse, then, another $30,000N.T.s, and Chen saw the wad of cash, and, robbed her at knife point, demanded that she give her the $30,000N.T., after he got it, he escaped to the Hsintien Direction, Lee immediately called the police.

Lee is a housewife, without any children, only her husband, and because of the outbreaks, she’d filed for the government assistance; and because Lee’s husband needed hip surgery, she was worried about not having the money for his surgery, and recently, the government assistance money was given, Lee was going to get the money to save her husband’s life, and Chen had, robbed her.

As Chen robbed the woman, he drove to Wenshan District of Taipei, to ditch the vehicle, then, bought a helmet, a pair of flipflops, took a cab to a sauna, an, at eleven in the nights, he took another cab back to his home in Zhonghe.

At six in the morning on the 23rd, Chen acted like nothing had happened and rode his scooter to work, the police zoomed in on his involvement in the robbery from the surveillance footages on the streets, two days ago at around five, they went to his resident and waited, as Chen got off work, he was immediately arrested, and, the police found $28,000N.T. of the cash that he had yet to spend, along with the raincoat, the helmet, the flipflops, as evidence of his robbing the woman of the cash her husband needed.

And so, this just showed, how easily it is, to commit a crime, you just need to feel temptation calling your name, and as opportunity presented itself, you’d, committed a crime, and you did NOT care about if the money you took from this woman was for the sake of saving her husband’s life, you just wanted to get some money quick, and now, you got arrested!
