The Theft Convict, with an Active Arrest Warrant on Him, Jiang,, Started Serving His Sentence on the Sixth of This Month at the Taichung Penitentiary Unit, the Prison Records Showed, that on the 13th, He Started Having Withdrawal Symptoms from Alcoholism, on the Fifteenth, He Was Taken to the Pei-Der Rehab, the Following Day, He Was Diagnosed with Cranial Hemorrhage and Acute Intraoperative Encephalocele, He Was Transferred to the Chinese Pharmacological University Hospital, and Because of Him Turning into a Vegetable, the Families Decided to Give Up Resuscitating Him. The Families Suspected about the Cause of His Injuries, and Accused the Taichung Penitentiary Unit for Neglect, the Taichung D.A.’s Office Already Got a Hold of Jiang’s Treatment Records, His Rehab Treatment Papers, Along with the Surveillance of His Prison Cell to Investigate, They Will be Conducting an Autopsy Today to Clarify the Cause of His Death.
The forty-two-year-old Jiang had been diagnosed with schizophrenia, is registered as a serious condition with the national health insurance agency, he was caught for burglary and sentenced to three months, but because he failed to report to prison, an arrest warrant was placed on him, he was caught, and on the sixth, he’d started serving his prison term at the Taichung Penitentiary Unit.
Jiang’s families testified, that on the eleventh, as they’d gone to visit him, he was mobile, and conscious, but on the thirteenth, the prison notified them on how he was showing symptoms of withdrawal from alcoholism, and was rushed to Pei-Der Hospital, and was diagnosed with intracranial hemorrhage, along with acute intraoperative encephalocele. As Jiang was transferred to the Chinese Pharmacological University’s Hospital, the hospital notified the families, that there’s the risk of him being brain dead, falling into a vegetative state from surgery, the families didn’t want Jiang to live in a vegetative state, two days ago, they’d signed the papers to stop resuscitating, the hospital declared him dead, and, from the time he was sent into prison to the time he’d died, it’d only took, ten short, days.
The families accused the Taichung Penitentiary Unit for “not caring enough for the lives of the inmates”, questioned why Jiang was having hemorrhages, that they suspected that someone had, beaten his head hard, demanded the prison system give them an answer to how he’d died.
The Taichung Penitentiary stated, that as Jiang the inmate was admitted to the prison, there wasn’t anything wrong with him, he’d told them on the 11th and the 12th that he was, feeling well, and the prison had sent him to the medical unit of the prison for him to get treated, and everything medical, was handled by the medical staff members there, that the procedures were followed, that they’d not covered anything up, as the families had, accused them for.
And so, this man had, died in prison, and, at most, neglect had happened, as the prison unit couldn’t, watch over every one of its, inmates, and this man died. The prison system said they had, sent this man into the treatment units, that they’d done, everything that they could, to have him under the care of medical professionals.
