The First Trial of His Murdering a Railroad Police: Not Guilty

How is this justice, huh?  Just because he had been found to show signs of auditory hallucination by the psych evaluations???  Off of the Front Page Sections, translated…

In the Case of the Man Stabbed the Railroad Police Officer, Lee to Death, the Chiayi District Court Handed Out a Not-Guilty Verdict; the Local D.A.’s Office Immediately Filed for an Appeal,  Pointed out, that the Suspect’s Symptoms of Paranoid Schizophrenia was Unrelated to the Case, as the D.A. Asked Him on the Stands, “If the Person You’re Attacking Were Your Own Daughter, Would You Go on and Stab Her Too?”, He’d Told Them No, Which Was Enough to Believe, that as the Stabbing Had Occurred, He’d Not, Lost his Ability to Tell Right from Wrong.

The psychiatrist responsible for evaluating Cheng pointed out, that he showed signs of paranoia delusions and auditory hallucination, that the crimes committed, were the after effect of a relapse of his condition.  That the society need to keep track of these cases, so they can be treated, and eventually, returned, back to society.

The D.A. pointed out, that the courts pointed out, that as Cheng stabbed the officer, Lee, he’d told those around him, that someone was out to get him, and believed, that someone was, going to, poison him as he got off the trains, that he couldn’t control his own actions, but, many times, Cheng testified, that he knew it was wrong, killing someone, and claimed, that the reason why he’d murdered the officer, was to give the police forces a warning, that it wasn’t, trying to, defend himself, which showed, that he’d, not lost his sense of judgment as he’d committed the murder.

The district attorneys stated, that as the acute conditions of schizophrenia occurred, the patients don’t necessarily lose their senses of judgment, that the manners of the defendant on the day he’d attacked and murdered the officer, he’d, acted normal, that other than the symptoms of paranoia, all his other actions are just like any ordinary person, he could understand what others are asking of him, and can answer the inquiries correctly, and others can also, understand what he was, stating to them too.

The defendant knew he was going to find the city council to plea his case, and knew, that he’d not needed to tell the store clerk anything when he’d gone and bought the knife, and knew, that going on a train without paying for his fare was illegal, that as he was caught, he’d, felt evasive, that he shouldn’t, flash the knife in public, otherwise, it would cause the public panic, and caused him to get lifted away by the police too, and this showed, that the defendant didn’t have any logical issues in thought.

The I.Q. tests of the defendant showed only a score of 76, buy, the D.A. thought that the marker for mental retardation was seventy or below, that he’d not, reached that degree.  And, the defendant knew to try to cheat the system, so he may intentionally, scored lower on his I.Q. test to mislead others, that the IQ score along, shouldn’t be used, as the determinant.

The psychiatrist, Shen of the VMH in Taichung said, that the opinions are all revolved around criticizing the judge and the doctors who’d administered the tests to the defendant, but, everybody all held their professionalism, he’d also met the victim’s family, and felt that it was sad what happened to their loved ones, but, he couldn’t, make an immoral decision against his professional knowledge.  A lot of Cheng’s behaviors, were caused by his mental condition, including how before he’d stabbed the man, he’d texted continually to the police, that someone was out to get him, that his murdering an innocent man, was, the result, of his schizophrenia.

And so this man, got only, a slap on his wrist for murdering someone at random, because he fitted to the requirements of having a mental condition, and, it’s still bullshit, I mean, if you killed someone, and, was experiencing symptoms of schizophrenia (i.e. persecutory delusions, auditory hallucinations, etc., etc., etc.), you get away with murder?  And, what about the families of the victims that this crazy person had, murdered?  Oh yeah, that’s, just, another, nameless, casualty of W-A-R, against the untreated mental illnesses, isn’t it?  And, there’s, NOTHING anyone can do about it!!!
