The kindness of the driver, that goes, beyond the call of his duty, operating the bus, translated…
The day is, dark, the row of people, dragged their, fatigued bodies, stood, under the bus stop, and waited. As the bus rolled on in, the passengers all got onboard, sat down, some shut their eyes to rest, others, lowered their heads, slid on their, cell phones.
As the bus got off the freeway ramps, the driver used the P.A. system, announced, “it’s raining out, do get your umbrellas or raincoats ready.” As the bus pulled into the station, he’d, reminded again, “the floor is wet and slippery, do be careful.”, that cold night, those passengers, who were, wearing their, fatigue on their faces, as they’d heard the kind words from the driver, they were all, moved, as they, paid for their fares, they’d all, thanked him.
I watched this, and, understood, that the passions one has for one’s job, and the worth of the job, is shown, in this, simple act, and, this wasn’t, required by the bus company.
I was moved, I’d, jotted down the driver’s name, and the bus number, I’d, wanted to, write a letter to the bus company, to ask for the company to, commend him. Although he may not be receiving any substantial monetary reward, but I believe, that my feedback can, boost his energy more, so he can, keep on, continue, showing warmth, toward his, customers.
And so, this, is how one act of kindness, has the ability, to get the cycle of kindness going, and, maybe, if the writer wrote to the bus company to tell the company of this driver’s kindness toward his customers, he couldn’t get any, physical rewards (like a raise???), but, the driver would know, that his actions, made a difference to someone who took his bus.
