The VERDICT’s in!!!  Off of the Front Page Sections, translated…

The Chinese man with Burmese nationality, Lee, three years ago, committed arson at his rental apartment, causing nine deaths, five injuries, the police officer, Wang was also, killed in that fire; the first and second trials both sentenced Lee to die, the Highest Courts used the reasons of “Not allowing Lee and his defense attorney to tell their side of the story”, and other reasons, tossed the case back for a retrial, the High Retrial Courts in Taiwan yesterday tossed away the original first verdict, still gave Lee the death penalty, that he will be stripped of his government post for life, this can still be appealed.

The first retrial believed, that the N.T.U. Hospital’s psych evaluation of Lee believed that as he was setting the fires to the apartment, he knew what he was doing, and the reports stated that it wouldn’t be impossible, to correct Lee completely, that there’s no switch in the motives either.

The verdict pointed out, that Lee, other than believing that his friend, the resident of the apartment, Chen had minor disagreements, he’d not known the rest of the other residents in the building, without any grudges or anything like that, he’d used such cruel measures, set the building on fire, killed many people, with no empathy whatsoever, and while in police custody, he’d spoken of how he wanted to extract revenge.

The High Courts believed, that Lee had premeditated the arson, and used such cruel and inhumane measures, not giving any chance to survive to the victims, that the case had shocked the society, that it’d met up with the two criteria for the death penalty “the most severe of all crimes”!

And so, this man, he deserved to die, for taking so many other innocent lives, simply because he had an altercation with the landlord, and, in the fires, the life of a police officer was lost as well, and, seeing how heartless the man was, in committing this crime, the courts mandated the death penalty, which was justified.
