Teaching things to children that aren’t, in the textbooks, and they’re, actually, learning it, quite well too here, it’d, saved lives in a fire!  From the Front Page Sections, translated…

A fourth-story mansion caught on fire yesterday afternoon in Tainan, the owners of the property, the Changs suffered from smoke inhalation, the nine-year-old daughter that the couple has saw a short ladder close by, she was very quick to act, set up the ladder, to get herself, her five-year-old younger brother, and her seventy-five-year-old grandfather to next door to escape, they’d all suffered, minor smoke inhalation; the girl, after she was out of the fire, she’d, held on to her grandfather, told the press, that the school taught her how to act in case of a fire, “I wasn’t scared!”

The fire department in Tainan at 4:45 in the afternoon, received a call about a fire, that there was a fire at a four-story mansion locally, as the firefighters got there, they’d found the forty-four year-old homeowner, Chang and his forty-two-year-old wife trapped on the second floor, they’d set up a ladder, rescued them out, the both suffered from smoke inhalation, the husband was, injured more severely than the wife had been.

As the firefighters cleaned up after the fire, they’d found that the two young children and Chang’s father had escaped from the rooftops; the three of them told, that as the fire occurred, they’d, moved toward the fourth floor, because the fire was started on the first floor in the storage room, the chimney had, helped the smoke rise faster, toward the fourth floors.

“Grandpa, younger brother, crawl over here quickly, then, you won’t inhale any smokes!”, Chang’s nine-year-old daughter saw a short ladder left by her father on the roof, she’d, quickly reacted, set up the ladder, to across the neighbor’s rooftops, then, she and her younger brother, her grandfather all, climbed down, without a single scratch on them.

As the girl was rescued, she’d held her grandfather tightly said, “I wasn’t afraid, the teacher taught us how to react, to get away from the smokes in a fire.”, her five-year-old younger brother also told, “I’d, climbed across the ladders, I didn’t get hurt either!”

The owner, Chang said, that they were, making the offerings yesterday, and burning the offering money, he mistakenly thought, that the fire was, already out in the urn, he’d, taken the urn to the storage out back on the first floor, but, the paper started burning up.  After the family of five were all taken to the hospitals, they were checked and cleared, sent home to recover.

And so, this, is how quickly this young child reacted, and she was, able to, save herself, her own younger brother, and her grandfather with what the teacher taught her to do in this sort of an emergency at school, so, children are, still, learning in ways, we can’t even, begin to, imagine!
