Something tragic, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

The ninety-one-year-old elderly man, Yen was about to cross the intersections with his own son for breakfast, suddenly, he ran into oncoming traffic, and was hit by a scooter that just started moving, back then, the elderly man’s right leg got caught under the wheels, as the son saw this, he’d, dragged the elderly man from under the tow truck, and held onto him and cried.

The preliminary investigation showed that the tow truck driver, Huang (age 35) wasn’t driving drunk, that the pedestrian was suspected of not paying attention to the lights, and the blindspot of the semi, the driver couldn’t see the pedestrian, that was what caused this accident.  After interrogations, the police charged the semi driver, Huang with vehicular manslaughter.

The father and son, Yens were from Taichung, they’d gone to the meat markets in Changhwa to sell their goats, afterwards, the father and son headed into town for lunch, they were on the way to crossing over to the opposite side of the streets, the police reviewed over the dash cam footage, found that the semi was waiting for the lights in the inside lanes, there was, a sedan ahead of it.

As the red light turned green, the elderly started walking in front of the semi, wanted to cross the roads, Huang failed to notice that the elderly man was ahead on the street, who had, stumbled and fell because of a pedestrian’s bumping into him, he drove over him, and dragged him across the roads, the elderly man’s son couldn’t stop the semi, watched his father get crushed by the wheels.

As the paramedics came, Yen’s son held his father, fell limp on the side of the roads, and started calling up his family members to tell them the news.  The local shop owner, Chen pointed out, that the elderly had, planned to cross the roads, but perhaps he couldn’t walk as fast, as the towtruck started up, it’d, hit him, and the elderly was caught underneath the wheels, his upper and lower torsos separated, the son called out to his father, but, didn’t get the replies back, it’d made everyone who was there, teared up.

The driver, Huang didn’t realize that someone was, in front of his truck, and, as he felt that something was not quite right, he’d learned, that he’d, run over someone, the police charged him with manslaughter after interrogation.

Uh hello???  Yeah, the truck driver had made the mistakes of running the elderly man over and killing him, but, shouldn’t the ELDERLY man also take responsibilities for his own death?  I mean, he was the one who ran across the road, thinking he could make it to the other side safely, without knowing that his body didn’t work as fast, and, surely, the driver of the tow truck was at fault, for running him over, and killing him, but, it’s not entirely his fault, the son should’ve watched out for his father more, to MAKE sure that he had, crossed the streets safe, after all, the elderly population are known, to have, a SLOWER reaction time, hello, hello, hello, hello???  And yet, nobody’s, going AFTER the son’s negligence of paying enough attention to his own father, is that fair???  Hell no!  But hey, the truck driver did, run over the elderly man, and killed him, so, he’s, guilty!  That’s still, NOT justice, if you ask me, but heck, who asked Y-O-U???  Exactly!
