The Best Part about Being a Member of the Younger Generations: Being able to See Histories Repeating Themselves

Commentaries off the Front Page Sections, written by the Professor of the Chinese Department of Feng-Jia University, on how the younger generations are allowing the current government to play them for fools, translated by me…

Reason why Taiwan became the head of the four small dragons of Asia back in 1987 because of the leader of the country, the son of Chiang Kai-Shek, Jing-Guo Chiang had the foresight, toward the global fossil fuel crisis of 1973, he’d, initiated the Ten Major Constructions.  But the forefront of this, was that the former president, Chiang Kai-Shek took a huge population of well-trained men over from China to help build Taiwan up, along with the mandatory education of nine years that was instilled since 1968.

Back in 1988, on my way to Sian from Shinjan, I’d held a very long conversation with the local trades center’s office manager, Lee, we’d talked for three nights, four days.  Back then he’d asked me how many years transpired between Taiwan and China, I’d replied, thirty, he’d not believed me.  Asked me how many years must one work to buy an 18-inch television, I’d told him, that the wages in Taiwan aren’t high, that we can buy four color television with one month worth of paycheck (back then, a month’s wages were about $8,000N.T.s).  Back then, the monthly wages for college graduates were only about 67RMBs, roughly $300 N.T.s.  He’d asked me how can his country manage to catch up, I’d told him, that the first is in upping the standards of education provided to the people, secondly, better the transportations.

Thirty years had passed, China had built over 20,000 kilometer’s worth of high-speed railroad systems, and countless airports; and, it took Taiwan over twenty years, to finally build the MRT rail tracks from Taoyuan Airport to Taipei, of fifty-one kilometers in distance.  Plus as the former president, Lee was elected, he’d started up the calls of becoming independent from China, splitting up the races; the education reforms that got started by professor Lee, Yi-Hsiung Lin’s calls for doing away with nuclear energies, all the political messes started, brewing fast, which caused Taiwan to get injured severely, along with the gap getting wider between China and Taiwan.

A ton of students from China are exchanging here, and all they see were what’s on the surfaces.  Our generation, we observed how the country went from poor, to the richest eras, but from the richest times, to the, poorest again.  The best thing about being members of the younger generations is that they get to see the histories repeating themselves, and so, rather than telling the younger generation about what happened in history, why not, allow them to taste the bitterness of the effects of histories, repeating itself, then it would, feel, more real to them.

The intelligent read through the lessons of histories well, while the most foolish, laugh upon the realness of what happened in histories, and, the blind AND the foolish, enjoyed how histories are, repeating themselves.

The western philosopher, Hegel in “Philosophy of Histories’ stated once, that the histories of China is in a constant state of going backwards.  But here, going backwards it’s not on going backwards, because, in the passing of history, things are, unchanged, no progressions, for the sake of gaining more control, not making, any forms of, progress.  And, whether the future of Taiwan, can break free from this vicious cycle, it’s, solely, reliant, on the view of history the younger generations held.

And so, because the younger generations here (and no, I’m still NOT a member of THAT era of “children”), they are only zoomed in on what’s right in front of their eyes (lacking the understanding of DELAYED gratification???), they only wanted the smaller blessings provided for them, which is what this current government’s doing, making the empty promises, just to get the stupid (feel free!) voters to vote for them, and yet, most of these younger generations of people in Taiwan, they LACKED the foresight, nor a wider view of the universe, that’s why, they’re, getting fooled.
