You Picked it Up, and Cut it in Half

Other Children Played with the Bamboo Dragonflies Sending Them Flying

You Used it, as a Baton to Conduct the Music

Other Children Want a New Story Every Single Night

You Wanted to Hear the Same One, a Hundred Times

“You Talk Too Loud!”

“Can I Pass the Trials of Fire & Water with Yen-Ru”

“Will Mommy Become Daddy in the Morn”

Free and Wild, Taking Up the Shapes it’s, Supposed to

My Child

This is Me, Who Listened to the Jazz Music, Tapping My Feet in Secret

Not Yet, Ready to Pick Up, the Splashes that My Child Makes Along the Way

This is the interaction a mother has, with her son with autism, and, because children with autistic spectrum disorders experience the world differently than the rest of the outside world, their parents needed to, spend a little extra time with them, and, this mother is, raising her son up on her own, alone, and life must be hard, for them, and the world’s, gonna, make it, even harder!
