Life, the Obstacle Course

Feeling Comforted, Giving My Daughter’s Hand Away

Something interesting, that’s happened in your life, translated…

My young granddaughter is finally three, and she could, go for the enrollment raffle for the public kindergarten systems this year, and the whole family waited, with our unsettled hearts through the entire summer, and in the end, we got, “second place of the replacement” as a result.  The public kindergarten is located next door to where my daughter lives, looking out their windows, there’s, the field, my fourth-grade grandson, Fish, walked to school every single day, it’d, saved his parents from having to pick him up, and so, naturally, the whole family had our fingers crossed, that my young granddaughter would get drawn in the raffles of the public kindergarten programs locally.

Although, Fish already knew the routes to take to school like the back of his hands, and he’d, adapted to school quite well too, but his mom still, felt ill-at-ease, giving him the responsibilities, to drop his younger sister to school on his own.  Awhile ago, my daughter and son-in-law couldn’t make it to pick up my young granddaughter after school, and, Fish, who was observant, as he walked past his younger sister’s kindergarten, saw her there still waiting, he’d gone in, told her school teacher, that he’ll, take her home.  And, not seeing her parents picking her up, my young granddaughter naturally felt, ill-at-ease, as they passed a super convenience shop, Fish took his sister in, for a bottle of yogurt drinks to comfort and calm her down, and, as my daughter flew into a panic, rushed over to my young granddaughter’s school to pick her up, bumped into the interactions between the older brother and younger sister, and she was, very comforted.

“Can you feel at ease now, giving your daughter’s hands to me now?”, Fish told his mom, which made her not know how to react to his words.  My daughter told me, right at the moment, there’s, that small skit that played on inside of her mind, one day in the future, when her future son-in-law says these words to her, she didn’t know if, she could, digest the mixture of her own, emotions?  And, it’d, made her realized, how we’d felt, back when we gave her hand away too.

As parents and children, maybe, we will, all encounter, these key moments in our lives, and what’s worth contemplating on is, this is not, just a ritualistic sot of a promise, that the two people marrying, should help each other through the rest of their lives together too!

And so, this, is from the young boy’s thoughtfulness, plus, his elementary school was right next to his baby sister’s preschool, and so, he’d, picked her up, when their parents got too busy, and, he’d, acted like a good older brother to her, knew that she’d be, scared, and bought her something to drink, to calm her down.
